In August, Capcom boasted that its Xbox Live Arcade title, Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting, saw "a phenomenal record of downloads" upon its release, and quickly established itself as the fastest-selling game on the service up to that point. Given that its first foray into digital distribution of console games went so well, it's no surprise that the company has been working on a handful of downloadable follow-ups.

Capcom today announced its new "Digital Initiative," a program aimed to expand its catalog of downloadable games for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Of the initial batch of four titles, two will be revamped versions of the publisher's arcade games, and the other two are new titles based on non-Capcom licenses. None have been priced yet.

Receiving a high-resolution facelift will be the knuckle-bruising Super Street Fighter II and its gem-breaking counterpart, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. Set for release this fall, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will retain the arcade game's original code, but features graphics redrawn for 1080p resolution. The redrawn art will be created by Udon Comics, publishers of the current Street Fighter comic book. The game will be released on Xbox Live Arcade and the PS3's PlayStation Network, and will feature online multiplayer matches, in-game voice chatting, worldwide rankings., and more

SWEET!

Nope as far as I know there has never been a HD version of street fighter.  They have alway used low res characters.

They have SF In HD on Live Arcade Now!

The only thing HD about that game is the first capcom logo and the first Street Fighter logo befor the real game loads.  They claimed to have cleaned up the graphics but its pretty much the same low res characters from the original.  Go take a look at the puzzle fighter pic gamespot has up and tell me if you can tell the diff.

Shouldn't Capcom just hire Udon to redrawn all the sprites from Street Fighter 2-3 and just release a Street Fighter Collection HD on disk as appose to cheapening it by releasing on PSN. Street Fighter HD is something that all SF fans have been dreaming about.

I just don't care. Why would I play this when VF5 and Tekken DR are available. Sorry, but I'm just not that nostalgic for crappy 2d games.

Guess you never got into Street Fighter.  Mortal Kombat is a nostalgic crappy 2d game.  Street Fighter is the real deal.

Ninja's have been sent to assassinate you in the next 24 hours. Enjoy your ladt day on Earth.

Just to lesson you on 2D fighters before your demise. 2d fighters has nothing to do with nostalgia, there certain strategies and methods that can only be incorporated in 2D fighters. Thats why King of Fighters has survived to this day with it's upcoming KOF XII being released with great anticipation in Japan. 2D fighters may not be big in the States anymore but most of Asia 2D fighters is still much more popular then there 3D counter parts. Mostly due to the amount of strategy involved.  2D fighters is kina like hand drawn animation over CGI, it's a drindling art form but it';s still strong in Asia.Â
