Ok, am I just crazy or do the Street Fighter 4 games control like molassas? I purchased the original SF4 when it was first out, and was very disappointed when I found that I could play SF3 WAYYY better because when playing SF4, all of a sudden my character simply wasnt responding to special moves anymore. I HATED the feel of the controls. Just yesterday I purchased the Arcade Edition of the game, and although it looks better and has great options, the controls still felt like crap! I used Ken and felt like at times the buttons wouldnt even respond with the moves. Every time i try to do a super move I always end up just throwing another dragon punch. I was like "wow, you're got to be kidding me."

I tried checking to make sure my controller was atually working, which it was, but still am wondering if anyone else thinks this control "feel" of the game is much slower and clunkier than the classic SF2 and SF3 games. The charaters just feel too "big" and slow in the SF4 games, in a way making them control worse. Anyway, I returned the game and exchanged it for something else. I'll stick with SF2 and 3, SF4 is freakin garbage.

It isn't garbarge, this problem occurs when your inputs aren't too precise.

THANK YOU!

This is what I believe as well, word for word. SFIV's controls are NOT similar to any other SF before it. It is molasses, they do suck, and it's like trying to steer a truck with no driving experience other than a sedan. They absolutely destroyed the franchise with the controls and the DLC fiasco. I'm sticking to Alpha 3.

What I mean to say is that it feels like this new control response was completely revamped from the old school SF2 and even SF3 games. Since character models are made to move and respond differently, people that were once pros at SF2 in the 90s seem to almost have to "relearn" what it means to play Street Fighter, and those who are just picking up the game for the first time (people who were NOT part of the SF2 90s era) can quickly adapt because they never knew the more precise and sharper controls that came before it. Back then, there weren't nearly as much focus on combos and air attacks, etc.

It's just not he same game, I doubt that any SF veteran (who's around the age of 30 or more) will be able to attest that they picked up SF4 for the first time and had absolutely no issues whatsoever.

i am so glad someone else finally noticed this.. the controls in ssf4 are @ss! i could barely get anything off in the begining.. i had to basically slow down and relearn a different method of speed when doing even the simple one's like hadokens and hurricane kicks.. the supers were basically hit or miss if u got them off, there was no sure way to execute ANYTHING! even the rage demon special which is simply a press of lp, lp, >, lk, hp studders to no end when trying to pull it off, wtf??? they really need to patch this issue or something cause it makes the game almost unplayable..

Well the game is 3 years old by now so I don't think they are going to patch it. :P

Yup, I'm not holding my breath for patches. Sticking with SF3 Online edition, for me, that's where the SF era dies

control issues not many people I know face... Myself, and everyone I play with doesn't have any issues throwing fireballs, doing spd's, doing demon's, etc.. but yeah, thats a bummer it doesn't feel right to some people.

I understand what you mean, I feel the same way in this case, I am 33 and I started SF II when I was 11 years old, and I had to relearn the basics in SF IV.
