I have a friend that works at Target and I believe his discount is for 10% off. Should I ask him to buy a PS3 for me for $450 + tax or should I go with Circuit City and get the free extra controller?

Really, the 10% discount only effects the sales tax...making it more like a $500 system than a $540 or whatever. I don't really remember the exact sales tax percentage.

The new controller doesn't really affect me that much...I can get new ones if they are released. It isn't that big of a deal for me.

Just so you know, those 5 free blu-rays are mail in rebates, meaning, it's gonna be pretty hard to actually get your money back. Mail in rebates are notorious for trying to jip people out of what looks to be a sale.

excuse me but 5 free blu-ray disks are not a buy now get a rebate deal. you fill out a form marking the blu ray discs u want along with the proof of purchase and recipt and then they mail the 5 discs to you. the discs are limited and they arent like the blockbuster movies like pirates or the departed. go to the ps3 page at gamestop.com to find out more

Ignoring the bluray mail in thingy, but one thing to consider. Target has a warranty extension that is pretty darn cheap - can't remember exactly how much. Well the cheap one covered products up to $500 (excl tax) - so the PS3 was above that, but will now be below............. just something to consider

If you are going with the Target one because of their extended warranty I would hold off. My friends xbox360 recently croaked and he went into Target to exchange it (seeing as he had the 3 year plan). It would be a time saver and he would be able to play the game he had just bought right when he got home.

However the Target plan does not cover in store return or repair service. Target will actually get the console and fix it themselves. Well in this instance they said the period could be months to fix it and suggested talking to Microsoft instead.

Moral of the story (besides 1.5s = Red Ring of Death) is that the Target coverage plans (although cheaper) are really nothing more than a headache inducing service that would cause immediate cardiac arrest if your PS3 croaked before you popped in MGS4.
