Yes, my copy is already on its way, in a city about an hour from here, and will have arrived by the time I get home from work today. I never got a chance to own these last gen, so now's my chance to finally get them. Should be fun. Mostly interested in Ico.
As soon as I leave work, running over to Gamestop and grabbing this. I took off tomorrow to play both. Seriously can't wait.
Getting this and Splinter Cell! (and RE Code Veronica HD off PSN) Wal-Mart was teasing me, they had two copies out nearly a week ago, but when I tried to buy one the register caught it and wouldn't let the clerk sell it to me. Oh well.
Ive got it now! :D, and to all the people hating on HD collections, dont buy em if you dont want to. Noone cares that you think its lame they are putting them out in HD for the ps3, its a good idea and great for people who loved them on the ps2 or who never got a chance to play them.
im playing through ico right now and its wonderful. its stunning how much yorda pops from the environment now. of course, the environment looks better too with sharper textures. the only thing i have mixed feelings about is how the shadow creatures look. you do see more detail, but i liked the more amorphous look of the originals better. that said, they still look great and its overall a huge improvement even from a fan of the ps2 version. ill get to colossus again after i beat ico, but im sure people who played it on ps2 hardware are in for a treat.
the amount of bonus content is comparable to a special edition dvd although there are only a few nuggets of insight into the creation process. im sure all the videos will be on youtube soon enough anyway.
While I am kinda getting tired of all the remakes/hd makeovers.. I will buy anything Team Ico releases, so yes.. i am getting, i have to say seeing the game in HD kinda has me excited to replay Ico which i had only for a brief time many years ago..PoisoN_Facecam0with all the new games coming out all the time, why is it bad that we get an occasional remake/update of older games? ports and remakes will never stop. good games with always be replayed, and if porting them in HD to a system it wasnt on so soeone like me can play SoC finally(since i didnt havce a ps2 last gen) what is wrong with that?
dude...dude...its reversible:-)...do it now..never look backI'm playing it at the moment (:
Shadow of the colosus is still an amazing game....
the only thing i don't like is that the gamebox looks really cheap... I could have designed a better cover......... how dare they -3-
Joedgabe
birthday today:-)(25)...waiting for the wife to get off work to watch the kids (3 of'em) and i'm off to indulge in gaming greatness.Btw i've never played either game so i'm extremely excited.Read Dead is the only game that I've seriously cried over at the end.I've been searching for a game that will grip me like that ever since. Now I have two.Life is good
How's the collection everyone ? johny300im playing through SotC now. the framerate has been silky smooth. also, when i played the ps2 version on my hdtv, i would notice white outlines around certain objects. thats gone, thankfully. beyond that, theres not much of a difference but thats not bad when the original game is so good.
yep love there work and i loved shadow of collossus.
i think your wrong about getting sick of the remakes and hd collections coming out, some of the games what are coming are some of the great classics of the last gen, and for alot of gamers these days go with the times and hate graphics of old and will never of played them, due to how bad the graphics were then. coming out now allows them gamers to take and have some respect from where games came from. most of the games we play now take alot of what they do from them games, and it's great to be able to play them in all these glory.
I cannot wait to get my own copy of it tomorrow, the games were always complimented for their imagery, and I hope that the HD makes this even better. I've been waiting for this game for a long time and have every confidence that it will be worth the wait. I don't care how few differences they've made because in the end I'd prefer to not see a fantastic game wrecked with unnecessary changes.
Played Ico to see what it was all about and even tho I liked the game, I can't help but think that it is way overrated,so many users who praise it to be the best game ever, but yet it felt like a regular short PSN game just a bit above average, don't get me wrong tho its simplicity is just right. Now SOTC of course I find to be the better of the two, can't revisit it out later today after my nap.
I have to admit i'm so ashamed that I'm having trouble with Ico. It seems so easy, yet I keep getting confused with every new room! I guess i'll get it right soon.. But the game looks great for a 10 year old HD remake. Very pleased with it!
Has anyone played them in 3D yet? I first started playing SotC just normal thinking that the 3D would just be gimmicky, but I have to say that I have been more impressed with the 3D in this game than the majority of 3D games I've played so far. After I killed my 5th colossus, I decided to play Ico for a bit to see how it looks, and I was quite impressed with it, more so than SotC which was surprising because of its age.
Well dude you are not completely right. Texture have been indeed redone in HD, and the game comes with some new extras like: Interviews, Ico multiplayer etc.soulreaper-4The textures have been upscaled only, which is more buzzword than actual improvement. I guess it would be asking a bit much for them to pull out some higher res stuff from the game's original development...but they are asking $40 for the collection.
