Just like what the title says... I am just curious about technically speaking how far behind is the PS4 compared to a really good gaming PC?

I am not trying to start anything as I play games on everything, for instance I have a gaming pc that built myself and I have an Xbox360, PS3, PS4, and I will get an Xbox One soon. So that being said please don't argue over one system/console over the other, as I am just asking a question that I am wondering about. Thanks.

Who cares? It is about gameplay. Why does everyone think that better graphics make better games? And how much does a really good gaming PC cost? Not $400! The PS3 had better games than the PC anyways. The PS4 will have better games than the PC in the future as well.

The PS4 is not far behind a high-end PC. Optimization will easily make up for that difference. BF4, a relatively rushed game for the PS4, runs @ 900P and a combination of High/Ultra settings and runs constantly 55+ FPS. Not very many people have a gaming PC that is even capable of that. I can barely do 1200p @ max settings with my $1,300 setup (i7 930 @ 4.2ghz, GTX 670). Like I said, PS4 isn't far behind at all.

It may be behind some big gaming PCs or optimised ones, but we're talking about maybe 5% of PCs on earth so the comparison is useless ; and anyway all these "top PCs" will require new graphcal cards often and change of some parts because they're overclocked

As far as PC GPU versus PS4 GPU the GTX 690 can draw around 234 billion polygons per second and the PS4 can draw just under 2 billion polygons per second. So a high end PC is over 100 times more powerful than a PS4.

top-end (not high-end) are definitely more powerful than a ps4, that "100 times more powerful" claim on the other hand is incorrect... on another side note there is only so much the human perception can (err) perceive, which is something like 60 fps, polygon-wise it depends on how large your screen is and how much resolution it has, above certain point it's just useless to have a more powerful system...

@gta50419: So, so stupid.

The PS4 isn't too far behind PCs to be honest. My PC is reasonable spec. It's a couple of years old but can run BF4 on Ultra at 50-60FPS. The PS4 is a similar spec. The technology is slightly different though. It's certainly in a better position than the PS3 was when it was released though.

It's on par currently. It uses current gen AMD-architecture CPU, and uses GCN architecture'd GPU. If you compare it to Intel... it's a generation or so behind.

Agreed PS4 looks fabulous but an over priced PC would look better although it's not worth the money. My PS4 will be used at Christmas and I too will enjoy myself so I'm happy for you. What I dislike about PC gaming is mandatory internet to play my game that I purchased. Not cool. So overall I am remaining a console gamer mainly not to mention larger variety of games. And yes PS4 considering the price point and the overall size it's a damn fine piece of machinery. I also enjoy console gaming because easy maintenance and no need for upgrades. I know your pumped about Uncharted 4? Let me ask you about the noise level? And does the PS4 vibrate at all because that use to be really annoying.

It depends on the PC. My PS4 is far and above more powerful than my PC. My PC can't run anything beyond Left 4 Dead 2 or Star Trek Online.
