I just wanted to say thank you to Sony for thinking about the future.  They didn't rush to put the console on the market and make a cheap one without a hard drive to try to beat the competition.  Now they are not the one's limiting developers game content only 1 1/2 years into the new generation.  They are not the one's who are making people buy add on's or buy the same console again with added ports.  People douted you but you are now begining to show why you are the dominent console maker.

MS never forced people to buy a hard drive or blu-ray.  Buying the hard drive was a option.  If a games doesn't get saved to the hard drive then it has to be put on 2 or 3 disks which is not a big deal unless you have a fat azz.

PS3 games have been limited from day one.  You can play multiplayer online games on the 360 that you can't play on the PS3.

I have the original xbox.  I have no reason to buy the elite.

Sony has to sort themself out.  Get more game exclusive back from MS.  Get the online store fixed in Europe and the world.  Make any game that has online option for the 360 also have the same online option for the PS3 (is that so much to ask.). Get alot more arcade games.  When a game goes multiplateform then help the developers make the games graphic at least the same as the 360.  Prove the power of the PS3 within a year.

But the good thing aboutSony's products is that they intergrate everything into their console. Take a look att he xbox 360 , you have so many add-ons (wireless adapter, HD-DVD player...) sure you dont have to buy it but maybe you might need it for future use. Because the xbox 360 doesnt have a HD-DVD internal drive and read games it causes problems to developers (eg. Rockstar). But as for the PS3 you just have to wait for future firmware updates and be able to use the PS3's hardware. And the most amazing thins is that they have integrated all this cool hardware into that PS3 and costing only 599 for what it has.
What i like about Sony is that they release two versions of their consoles, one original one and after a few years a modified version (PS2, Playstation 2 Slim) unlike other consoles where they release other version but with new features (Wii, new Wii with DVD playback).

It's clear the PS3 has great potential.  It's biggest enemy at the moment is developers imo.  That will change as more and more units shift.

How much of that technology do you think developers will be able to take advantage of? Just because they stuff a bunch of future tech in their doesn't mean that's necessarily a good thing, we shall see when year after year passes and we still don't see the PS3's full potential.

I agree with everything but the "put on 2 or 3 disks".  I hate multi-disc games.  Not because I am lazy, but because it takes me out of the game.  And you can't put every game on multiple discs.  linear games like GOW, GeOW, Resistance can be put on multiple discs because you can never go back to where you have already came from.  But with games like GTA, Saints Row, Oblivion, Crackdown, they are open-world, sandbox games that allow you to go where ever you want.  I would hate the idea that I had to load a new disc everytime I wanted to go to a new part of the city in GTA(not saying that it is going to happen).  Imagine "missions" where you would go from one side of the city to the other and then come back.  that would mean that you would have to swap out discs atleast twice.

A. you have to under stand that having a hard drive makes it easier for the devs. B. i guess you did have the nea or the snes or the history of gaming. add ons don't sell = less support witch = wasted money. look at ps 2 harddrive one game supported it. look at turbo graphixs 16 add on cd it was only supported in japan. look at the robot fron the original nes add-on only 2 to 3 games supported it. C. the on-line is great for them too have a 4 mouths they had to create the on-line. don't forget that micro had a whole gen ahead for there on-line survice. microsofts on-line was not as good as the psn when it first cameout. did the 360 have all of this stuff at day one also. so stop compering these two system one is a year older than the other one.
