The Metal Gear Solid PSP games are really underrated. Agree?

Plus over at gamefaqs i see that there are tons of people not liking Portable Ops. They probably ended up playing Portable Ops + which makes them not like the game. If they were playing regular Portable Ops then they woudn't be ranting and raving.

Also I think Metal Gear Solid Acid 1 and Acid 2 are severely underrated and misunderstood. Guess people got turned off of card gameplay mechanies after playing Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories for the GBA but i see nothing wrong with the MGS Acid games.

MGA was actuallu quite good you're right but I didn't know it was a card game till i plaed it so it was quite a nasty shock. I love metal gear but to be honest i thought portable ops sucked the whole dragging soldiers back to the van thing sucked.

Couldn't agree more about the Acids man. Played through the first one and making my way through the second right now and there phenomenal.

Pity so many MGS fans didn't even try them out just because of the genre change. Very underrated series..

Word, man! PSP has always been great at delivering enjoyable Metal Gear games. I liked Acid!, but never played Acid! 2 (I'm gonna get it somewhere and beat it ASAP), but Portable Ops is the big problem here. Nobody likes it. I don't know why, everybody b_tch about the cutscenes, I though they were great and stylish. The gameplay is amazing, the recruit part makes it all the more addictive. I hate it when people complain about it, especially now as the REAL sequel is coming to PSP instead of PS3/X360, next-gen fanboys trash the game before it even gets released.

Portable Ops pwns GOW and Crisis Core, MGS 4EVer!!!

I just actually got my copy of Metal Gear Acid a few days ago. It's a pretty good game, I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. Great story, interesting game mechanics, deep strategy involved. That said, it can get rather tedious on some levels, mainly when you just need to get to the other side when all the enemies have been pretty much wiped out and being stealthy is nigh impossible on some levels. Can't wait to get my hands on the second one, I've heard that's the best of the two.

Reason why people hate Portable Ops is because they probably played Portable Ops Plus which isnt the actual game since Portable Ops Plus doesnt have the main storyline mission.

Those who played Portable Ops Plus need to get ahold of the regular Portable Ops game since its better.

It definitely is. Almost everythings been improved. The story of the first is worth a play through alone, but once you play the second you'll never want to go back..

yeah well dont let the card gameplay in Metal Gear Solid Acid 1 and 2 turn you off. Don't be one of those people who are disgusted at that kind of gameplay. You're really missing out on a really good game if you give it the chance

Yeah, same here and I'm a huge Metal Gear fan. I liked Portable Ops for like 3 hours of play, I just never went back to it ever since, just lost interest in it.

So essentially what I'm gathering is that people who love the Metal Gear series as a whole love nearly all of the metal gear games for PSP. And members of the non Metal Gear group enjoy MGA 1 & 2 and can't quite get into the more in-depth/traditional MGS play style that PO presents. I personally love PO because I have been an MGS fan since the very beginning and the gameplay/story is awesome. When I first saw the cinematics I was mildly disappointed but I realized capacity is not a UMD strong point, therefore this shortcoming was easily forgiven. I'll admit I was turned off by the card battle style of the MGA's but now that I've found so many people enjoy them I may have to give them a try. Even if the gameplay sucks I'm guessing the story will rock my balls?

The gameplay for the Acids doesn't suck.

Well, maybe for a shooter fanboy, but as far as all other MGS's go, it's probably the most tactical/strategic pair of games out of them all imo.

Not to mention stories that will mess with your head, but thats nothing new for Metal Gear..

There a fans loss though, if there being avoided just because they change the formula. Same thing happened with Socom TS, and just because too many Socom fanboys couldn't keep an open enough mind to merely try it out, sales tanked. Regardless of how good the game was.

I mean if I had a dollar for every time I read a post by some kid bashing that game who hadn't even seen so much as it's title screen.

Just don't get it.. :?

Let me say this again.

People that think they played Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops must have played Portable Ops Plus which is not the actual game.

Stay the hell away from Portable Ops Plus. All it is is online multiplayer and it has no main storyline.

Regular Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops you need to get. Period.

Thats music to my ears. I just beat the first one today, great game and really in the mood for some more. It's kind of funny, I prefer this game compared to the rest of the Metal Gear games... honestly I've never really liked the console counterparts. The story behind the games is really good, but I've never been a fan of the gameplay. Only reason I picked up Acid was because of the turn based gameplay and boy am I glad I did.

I haven't plaed the Ac!d games so I wouldn't know about them, but I presonally think Portable Ops is a bit bit overrated. I still think the game is good though, just not THAT good. And I know for a fact that I own PO and not PO+ lol.

I could't stand the horrible A.I.!!

Also, I did't understand how a shot to the head just knocks them out.

I can't stand Portable OPS, not +, just regular. I tried so hard to like it but I just couldn't get into it. I love stealth gameplay but this game just didn't flow very well. I also thought the controls were horrendous which really killed it for me, but what can you really do w/ controls on the PSP. So sad. I actually just popped the game back in my PSP literally 10 min ago and had to put it down one final time.

Um...using a tranq to the head makes the drug work faster and they fall asleep faster... Anyway, I liked MGSPO and PO+ alot, but it falls short to the other console games, which people overrate and say it meets the same standards.

Not that underrated. I'd say its rated just fine. But if anyone said MGS: PO is not good and I just haven't noticed then I agree with you.

I'm A Big MGS Fan, But I Don't Know Why, But I Did't Enjoy Portable Ops That Much, It's Well... I Don't Know, It Just Doesn't Feel So Fun... I Guess It's Cause Of The Recruit Thing, But I Really Like The Idea, And Managing, The Units, But The Knocking Them Out Then Dragging Them, It's Like, I Can't Kill People, If I Shoot One, It Could Alert, There Are Too Many People, And You'd Die, Well, Not Unless You Restart The Mission Or Abort It. And I Guess Another One Is That Their Isn't Any Camouflage, It Kinda Makes It Hard To Like, Well, Sneak. And The Controls, Well, They're Okay, But, They Could've Made The Inventory Better. The Only Part I Like, Is The Multiple Playable Charaters, Snake's Sneaking Suit, The Units, And... The Cutscenes Are Great Too, It's Pretty Cool!

I'm Glad Though, For Peace Walker, I'm Really Excited For It, It's Got Camouflage Already, And The Same Team That Worked On MGS4 Is Gonna Work On It Too!! :D

As For MGA, I've Never Tried It, But It's Kinda Interesting, Maybe I'll Try It One Day

Personally i loved Portable Ops. The gameplay was enjoyable though definitelly not on the level of the "big" MGS games, but the story really had some of the best moments in the series. I fully agree with the review it received here on gamespot.

Can't comment on the Acid games as i have not played them.
