Boderlands, the whole game you did the same thing, run, talk and get mission, run some more to a place marked on map, shoot, shoot, shoot, run back to place you came from, get reward, repeat.

Also, even though it is my favorite game, inFAMOUS, it was the one massive flaw in it, but I didn't push me away from loving the game. The side-missions were the same most of the time

well technically speaking all games are very repetive. Cod for example u shoot someone...then you shoot a different person...and another person. the only thing that chantges really is the location. gta is insanely repetive. after about a half hour youve done most of the fun things in the game and then its just boring. just casue 2 is the same as gta....actaully all open world games are like that

I couldn't agree with you more. The missions in inFamous were repetitive but I found most of them were so much fun that it didn't matter.

The first Assassin's Creed was pretty repetitive.

Star Ocean 4 was also repetitively terrible.

Shadow of the Colossus. I made it to the 8th one before I finally got so bored I stopped playing. Long ass horse ride, climb colossus, find weak spot, attack, repeat.

Most recently it's DCU. I had new game fever for a while and couldn't admit it was a glorified masher, but a month of play convinced me to cut my losses and not renew. Discounting boss stages and race challenges literally EVERY mission and objective is defeat/collect X number of Y.

I totally agree with all of that, even though I really like both of those games. I also found Prince of Persia 2008 to be incredibly repetitive with that whole go through section of game then go through it again and take a few different paths to get light seeds so that you can get a new power and continue the game crap.

 *sniffle* But anyways, I'd say Burnout Paradise. Start race, get lost on the other side of the giant map, find race, get started, get lost, yell bad words. Over and over again.

inFamous. It was painfully repetitive. So much that I hated playing it but I still finished it because it was a good game.

Assassins Creed. Interrogate, Eavesdrop, Pickpocket, Find Viewpoints, Assassinate. Pretty much sums up the game.

There's no game listed in this thread that could possibly be more repetitive than Far Cry 2. At least other repetitive games like Assassin's Creed have the benefit of being somewhat short in length.

I agree with inFAMOUS.

great game- it was actually my first PS3 game. Many side missions were repetitive.

On the ps3, that would have to be either Borderlands or Sacred 2. Admittedly, I played Borderlands a lot, but when I got burned out, I really got burned out. It's so boring to me now that I don't want to finish the last dlc pack that I got for it.

Sacred 2 is just repetitive by it's very nature of being a top down hack and slash, but it doesn't even have the entertaining skills or graphics that typically keep those entertaining.

Over a series it has to be CoD... Long epic fight(the storytelling not campaign) sprawling a dozen countries, get betrayed, find the betrayer and kill him rinse and repeat in the next installment. In a single game i agree it was AC i honestly thought i had somehow corrupted my save and it had placed in an earlier save some of those things were sooo repetitive it was unreal.

Prototype, Saboteur, Red Faction: Guerrila.

Open world games seem to fall into the trap more than others.

Brawler-Dude and all the rest of you, never happy huh? Always finding something to complain and criticize about.

Technically every game is repetitive, if you use the same combo or any move more than once. Get over it.

I think the majority of people using this forum realize that games have a basic set of controls that are repeated throughout the game. It's pretty condescending to imply that any gamer doesn't understand that. However a talented studio will find ways to mix things up and create a variety of environments so the experience does not become boring and stale.

It's one of my favorite shooters this gen, but Far Cry 2 is ridiculously repetetive (drive for ten minutes here, level the place, drive back; frequently dealing with outposts and patrols.) The key to enjoying that game is knowing it'll be the same thing over and over unless you do something about it. Bulldozing your way through an outpost fifty times gets boring so switch it up by trying to sneak through it without being detected or switch up your combat tactics. There's a countless amount of ways to complete each scenario but most people I know just do the same thing over and over agian.

Far Cry 2 wins hands down IMO. Drive to x, talk to x, drive to destination, kill a bunch of NPCs, rinse and repeat.

Assassins Creed 1 is a close second in my books.

I agree, I mean if you played a game, and all you did was run and shoot and nothing else, no good story no nothing it would get really repetitive, and yes all games if you think about it, you are doing the same thing, but like Second_Rook said, a good game company wil find a way to make it clever and take the game and change it a little to make it not repetitive and have you go back o it over and over. And really if we didn't criticize games, wouldn't ever game be a 10/10
