At my high school almost no one knows what Killzone 2 even is despite the fact it got the same praise as Modern Warfare 2 did.

I kinda liked Saw, even though it generally received miserable reviews. I mean it had probably the sh$@#$% and clunkiest combat system ever. That part of it was almost broken. But somehow the game still worked for me. I liked the puzzles, especially the ones where there was time pressure or else you died. I liked having to watch out for the "insta-kill" traps as you explored. It just captured the mood of the Saw movies very well for what was obviously a low budget game.

Oh, I've got a whole list... but probably the most current one would be Mirror's Edge. Would have been Bayonetta, but it seems like more people are starting to come around to that one.

ArchoNils2

But Dante's is generally received as a "pretty good" game. Just a little too derivative of some other games.

I really liked it for the first half of the game, towards the end it started getting repetitive. I didn't like the end part that you had to repeat the same rooms over and over again fighting enemies as part of the main campaign. That was basically the "challenge of the gods" from God of War and similar other games.

Bionic Commando from last year. I absolutly love this game, swinging around the environments and the inventive ways you can take out the enemies. The music was awesome as well. It has gotten horrible reviews though and most users seemt to dislike it as well, but for some reason I love it. I think I have played through it 6 times or more so far.

Right-on, Chalupas... THIS is the kind of post I'm looking for in reading this thread! For me, there are a few titles, because I enjoy buying and playing titles no one else buys. I know, I'm sick.

"Alone in the Dark: Inferno" - Panned when it came out on the 360, they made some changes for the PS3 and it plays really well... But no one cared after the 360 reviews. Great scares, involving cut scenes with above-average acting and animations... It's one of my all-time fav horror titles. You can buy it for less than $10us, brand-new.

"IL*2 Sturmovick: Birds of Prey" - In my opinion, one of the best air combat games ever. You can set the physics and AI to such realistic standards as to be frustrating beyond compare, and there-for AWESOME (it's not so hard you can't win, it just takes skills). I never see this game on anyone's trophy list, and I think it should get some good press because I haven't seen any of the reasons why most reviewers gave it points off. Check it out.

One of my favorite games that alot of people were disappointed in is Fable (1).

Melpoe

OK... I have respected your views in the past and you seem to like a lot of the same qualities in a game that I do, Melpoe, so tell me (and you folks who liked "Haze" as well can chime in too please) what you found about it that made it a good time, that reviews etc., missed? I likes me some unpopular FPS so sell me on it. I'm just not very familiar as to it's criticisms and strengths... what's it got for the player? And in general, what about "Lair"? Could you expound on that as well? Did they patch it to playablility finally? I mean, I see an infinte improvement in "Alone in the Dark: Inferno" from the 360 to the PS3 version so it's not like the fat can't get yanked outa the fire, at times...

I would appreciate your insights, on both titles.

:)

Oh and yo, dude who purchased "Dark Sector"... I'm the other guy who bought "Dark Sector", of whom you speak!

IL-2 Sturmovik is on my trophy list =) But I'm taking it slow with that one, for whatever reason I haven't been compelled to finish it. I've only been playing on the regular mode and have a few missions to go. Haven't checked out the full sim mode yet.

I've been meaning to get Alone in the Dark for awhile as well.

I love picking up those $10 games. I buy most of mine when there is at least some sort of sale. 3 for price of 2. Amazon pre-order credits. Etc. But beyond the "sales", once I see a game listed for $9.99 I'll give just about any PS3 game a shot. Waiting for newegg to put up some different ones at $9.99! They haven't had any for awhile (fortunately Amazon just had a b2g1 so I got Tekken 6, The Saboteur, and Operation Flashpoint for $40 total).

I have quite a few mentioned in this thread that I got for $9.99 including tax and shipping from Newegg. Got Bionic Commando + Mirror's Edge that way. Both those are good under-appreciated games as well IMO. The only negative about Mirrors edge was on my SDTV it had absolutely ridiculous screen tearing. Fortunately that doesn't seem to be a problem when played on an HDTV.

Far-Out! I don't feel so all-alone anymore! XD

I'm sick for the game and have played through on regular difficulty, and I even got the DLC P-57 Thunderbolt missions and got through those (the Thunderbolt was a bruiser of a machine)... I've been chipping away at the next highest difficulty, probably at least halfway through at this point (final Sim Mode is unlocked from completing 'Realistic' difficulty - CAN'T WAIT to see how insane that will be. Air combat is a favorite genre of mine, but I was really suprised at how much I've enjoyed "Sturmovik". Really more a Pacific Theater enthusiast, historically. But a great game.

"Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising" is truly a MAN'S game. I call it the "Cure For CoDisease".

Even though it's just a hair buggy in places, the intensity is unmatched. Again, you can ratchet up the reality to the point of making a grown man cry. The difference between "Flashpoint" and other contemporary FPS is night & day. You have my respect for having the rocks to suit up on that title! When I peruse friend's trophy collections on my friend list or I'm considering adding a request and I see that game, it's an instant impressor.

I'm a big fan of the $9.99 game... I'll have to check out newegg.com, thanks for the tip! And definitely get "Alone in the Dark: Inferno". It's a $9.99 game that's well-worth the cashish, in my opinion.

I enjoyed playing NIER, even though it got poor reviews and everyone i know havent bothered with it.

Albiet its not the best RPG style game around, as its kind of linear story set in an open world, but with it being linear the whole runnin back and forth gets a little tedious. but it wasnt as bad as all the reviews made it out to be, it had some pretty interesting and orinigal boss fights, and an unusual style of fighting, with a bit of in-game humour thrown in, thats all it needed to be an alright game. Damn critics lmao.

Also, i really enjoyed the game beyond good and evil on ps2, that was a kick ass game, good combat system even though it was basic, and the whole photography side to it made it an interesting experience. Its a shame news on beyond good and evil 2 is so far and few between.

Non- console-wise? Final Fantasy VIII. PS3-wise it's Mirror's Edge.

Brutal Legend. Alot of my gamer friends HATE the game, but I like it. :-)

All my friends and myself love this game. We all own copies of it. We are all metalheads though, so maybe that is why.

Haze, Lair, not saying I love them or anything but I did have fun with them.

One of my favorite games that alot of people were disappointed in is Fable (1).

MonkeySpot

Lol, Monkey, my adorable little friend, I enjoyed Haze for many reason. I got it years after it came out for $10, if I spent $60 on it I would have hated it. I enjoyed how poor the script was, yes, it's one of those "it's so bad it good" type of situations. I actually did enjoy the gunplay and how easy the game was, the online was also alright when I found a game.

I mainly enjoyed haze because of an old Gspot user called "Furi-Kun". The guy got me curious about haze and I love the box art to it. Sorry it took so long to reply, but yeah, I do not love haze but I enjoyed it and would give it a soild 6.5 :P.

*Edited In*

Also, you mentioned Alone In The Dark Inferno correct? I played AITD on the 360 and hated it, I had some high hopes cause I enjoyed it back on the PS1. Do you think I should give it a try on the ps3? I heard they made ALOT of improvements, but Alone is easily the 1 game this entire generation that could have been one of the greatest games this generation.

It's a terrible game.

ExoticAnimal

Which one? ON second thought, it doesn't matter because in either case you are wrong.

Was talking about Mirror's Edge. :P

I loved Mirror's Edge the first time through, but the story sucked, and.. it was only worth that first run through. So it does suck :D

At my high school almost no one knows what Killzone 2 even is despite the fact it got the same praise as Modern Warfare 2 did.

Demonjoe93
Same. In fact, I asked if anyone was getting New Vegas, and one guy said it was s***. I asked him ' Have you played it?'' Response was no. Told him to shut up. The ONLY game these douches at my school play is you know what.
