Introduction

Welcome to the PS3 Recommendation thread. Here, you will find the top rated and most popular games for the PS3. This thread was created to give you an advice about what game(s) to get. Every game is linked to its gamespace and its written review,in some cases its video review. It also contains some useful information about the ERSB rating system. Also, be sure to check the EDIT HISTORY, there you will find when the thread is updated with a tag.

*NOTE* ALL"What game should I get?" or any similar questions relating to game recommendation threads outside this stickied thread will be locked. This is THE ONLY place to ask for recommendations in the PS3 board. Thanks. - Caddy06_88

if you have a PS3 get Blazblue: Calamity's Trigger it is a fighting game that will suck you in, although the buttons ingame and in the booklet are designed for joysticks when you figure out which buton is A B C and D it isnt as hard

Ok I have a problem here. I had my friends street fighter for a while( about 3 weeks) and i absolutely loved that game and iw as planning to buy it for myself but now Blazblue came out(which i never even payed attention to b4) and im soo hyped up about it that i want to get it. problem is that i dont even know if i will like it and it looks harder to get into the fighting than compared to street fighter.

I have $200 to spend and i am 70% sure i want these 3:

Bioshock(PS3) - $30

Megaman Starforce 3: Red Joker (DS) - $30

Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion - $20 (No GOTY because of some bloodgrass gltch in it that ive been seen every 5 threads on the oblivion board)

That Leaves $120 and im not sure what to do. I was wondering if i should spend the $120 on Street Fighter 4 & Blazblue but im thinking Two fighting games would be redundant but i dunno cuz i know i love street fighter but i so want to play Blazblue that im not even sure i mgiht like or understand.

Another Option i have is to buy one or the other and then use the other $60 on a good ps3 game which now poses another problem. Are any of them even worth the $60. The first thing id look at obviously is in famous but ive been hearing its short and not worth $60 and everyones saying soon as they finish it they never pick it up again.

So with that i check the next thing that might be worth the $60 and thats Resistance 2. With this now i have Killzone 2 & Call of Duty 4 already which i have been playing alot online recently. I have Resistance: fall of Man and love the story and would like to see what happens next but people have been saying Resistance 2 story sucks compared to Fall of Man so i not sure on that either. Thing is alot of people say Killzone 2 story is horrible but i liked that and Resistance 2 should be better? I do plan to buy this game either way eventually and i would want to get the Platinum so i have to take into acount the 10,000 kills before no one is online.

3rd option I see is LittleBigPlanet. Problem with this is that I have no interest whatsoever at all in this game. That could change if i ever got to play it but for now i dont even care to buy that.

4th and final option I have is two $30 games with Metal Gear Solid & Ratchet & Clank: Future Tools of Destruction. With these two games, first off ive only played Metal Gear Solid 3 to some little ways after beating The Fury and i have played the MGS4 demo and thought it was good. With Ratchet & Clank now i played one of the prevous ones and loevd it(Up Your Arsenal) and i Loved the demo when i played it ages back but for some reason i just dont feel like buying it and i dunno why. With option 4 theres also teh fact that theres no trophies which ive becoming recently interested in but not addicted to(If i was addicted i would go and get 90%+ on Burnout Paradise but dont care to so).

So yeah Please Help me out with the Options:

#1. Street Fighter 4 & BlazBlue

#2. Street Fighter 4 & InFamous

#3. Street Fighter 4 & Resistance 2

#4. Street Fighter 4 & LittleBigPlanet

#5. Street Fighter 4 & Metal Gear Solid 4 & Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

#6. BlazBlue & Infamous

#7. BlazBlue & Resistance 2

#8. BlazBlue & littleBigPlanet

#9 BlazBlue & Metal Gear Solid 4 & Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

Please state which #number and why i should pick that combination. Also if it helps im most interested in the Infamous % Resistance 2 choices and least interested in the MGS4 and Ratchet & Clank choices. I have more interest in Blazblue because of the gameplay vids and the gametrailers review and hype but i dont know if i will like the game or find it complicated to get good at but with street fighter i know what im doing and know ill love it. MGS4 & Ratchet & Clank i know i can buy any time and the prices are only gonna get cheaper so not much priority on those. I have alot of interest in Resistance 2 and thinking it might be worth $60 the most because of the multiplayer which i guess ill love because i love the first 1

No, the Warhawk community is one one the most active that you have. You won't have any problems in finding a game.

@ massivekaos I would go for option 9 as blazblue looks sweet and mgs4 and ratchet and clank are two of the best ps3 games out there. And great update, I felt it needed one, the old one was getting huge.

i was hoping to get some suggestions for good (and possibly cheap) 2 player co-cop (or vs) games. i have a friend who likes sports and racing, but we also had fun throwing down on guilty gear back in the day (so i was thinking on grabbing blazblu since i've heard comparisons to gg) he also likes blowing stuff up, shooting stuff and customization (to some degree it doesnt have to be super in depth, just like weapon/skill upgrades and the like) so any suggestions, im all ears.

Not neccessarily, there are plenty of people who prefer Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 doesn't have awesome co-op.

Im not saying that no one who prefers Resistance over Kz im just saying iw as googling resistance 2 vs killzone 2 and ALL of threads had a considerable more replies for Killzone 2 over Resistance. The lastest one im looking at at gametrailers forum has 20-4 in favor of killzone 2 and 4 other people saying to get both and more than half of them saying get R:FOM over R2 because its better than R2.

So i would like to know not if people prefer R2 but if R2 would feel dull after i have played and beaten KZ2 and R:FOM when everyone is saying Fall of man is betetr than R2 much less than Killzone 2. I want to spend $60 on a ps3 exclusive and this seems like it could be the only one thats worth with the online,co-op and alot of other stuff ect. I was also looking at InFamous but everyones saying its too short and not worth $60 and i should wait for a price drop.

Most likely. KZ2's community is more active than R2 and graphics are more advanced. I personally never went back to R2 after I got KZ2.

Ok, to answer your question. Yes, it may feel dull. The online community is much bigger at Killzone 2 and Resistance 2s community is decreasing majorly.

IMO, I like them both the same, but like you said, the majority prefer Killzone 2. I say rent it, because you maybe part of the minority that prefers Resistance 2.

And yes, wait for a inFamous price drop. :)

I think racing games can be fun, but I have never really gotten into them any deeper than that. I've been hearing great things about Burnout Paradise. Is is a good game to get for a casual gamer in the racing genre?

On another note, great update. I agree the old one was getting to big.

Get burnout. But before that get Motorstorm. Motor Storm 2 has a demo. Not only is motor storm 2 equally has good of a game has Burnout it has really bad sales and should support it.
