The State of Modern Warfare 2 on the PS3

Hey guys I was just considering getting MW2 again on the PS3 being that I own the DLC for it. I have held back because of all the hacking that I have seen on youtube over the past couple of months. Is the game finally fixed now? Or are people still floating in the air and not taking damage from weapons still? I know the PS3 has been patched several times but I just wanted to ask some people that still play MW2 on the PS3 if it's finally been fixed?

well, most of the time anyway; there's still OMA noob tubes and an absolute TON of quickscopers but i have not experienced anything like it was before, i only play S&D most of the time so i don't know about the other game modes though they should be fine

I can honestly say I haven't had a hacked match since they fixed it, before that it was nearly unplayable. My roommate and I do about three or four hours of TDM a day (I know, we have no life) and it's not bad. I say go for it, I doubt you'll run into a problem.

This is great news for me. I love Modern Warfare 2, but I haven't played in 3 months because the hacking got unbearable. If the hacking is at least lessened from what it was, I will get back into the game. I hated the fact that I might have to buy Black Ops (ewww Treyarch) because MW2 was a hack fest. Keep the responses coming, I wanna know if this game really has gotten hacking under control.

Even if it wasn't hacked it's still terrible.

Get COD4 instead.

I was playing it last night with no issues. It's back to normal now as far as I can tell.

I've went back to it since I hate Black Ops. I believe there was over 100k people on. I played for an hour or two and didn't notice anything hackerish. Great game and I'm glad to be back into it.

Well i have been playing regularly again. I have checked out most match types. Demolition, TDM, S&D, etc... havent run into any issues so far.

It's fun now and less laggy than the PS3 version of Black Ops.

I been playing it since hacking started on it never seen a hacker.

The game is playable and still pretty fun if you can get into a good lobby. There are still a lot of quickscopers, noobtubers, and commando knifers but if you can get past that it is pretty fun.

This is all great news! I may just pick it up after all. I mean I own the DLC and to me that alone should make me want to get a copy again. I'm kind of tired of black ops too like most peopole.

Actually QS is one of the most retarded things about the game. Its one thing to run up to someone and knife giving you a chance to shoot. It's another to get close and have noob tubes not work, but QS works near and far and its usually One Shot Kill. How are you suppose to avoid that? You can't. There's no strategy to beating QS.

you do realize some of us can't QS correct? hell i can't even hard scope. I suck at sniping. I suck at tubing too but at least i can avoid it. again the other two have weaknesses that you can exploit.

you do realize some of us can't QS correct? hell i can't even hard scope. I suck at sniping. I suck at tubing too but at least i can avoid it. again the other two have weaknesses that you can exploit.

So you are aware that it's your weakness, now try to counter it by either learning how to QS and snipe OR throw stuns using the aiming crosshair. Since CoD4 I've been getting owned by QS'ers and these two methods have helped me. In CoD there is always a way to counter something, it's that most people (not saying you) just tend to go and do the same routine of running into the same person only to get slaughtered. When something annoys you, find a way to counter it.

LOL :lol:yea unfortunately it is my weakness. Trust me I've spent hours upon hours trying to learn how to snipe but it just doesn't work right. Shotguns? Check. Pistols? Check. Assault Rifles? Check. Grenades? Check. Sniping? Can't do it if my life depended on it. I get them K/D ratio of 3/14 or even worst every time I try to snipe. Just a FYI I don't suck at MW2 so just in case you think I just suck:P. Hell i get more kills with throwing knife only in a match than I do with sniping and I suck at throwing knife as well. Grenades whether stun/frag/semtex they can get kills but I don't see how they can truly be used as an exploitation for QS (enlighten me since I can't counter QS) since its not like folks QS camping in one area. Usually QS i play run around the map QS. With Tubes I enable Marathon and lightweight so I can get close fast. With Commando guys I just do what i call spot check. Run to a corner, scan the area for people running like morons then run to another and repeat.

Yeah in MW2 it takes no skill at all. Sleight of Hand Pro made it far too easy.

Did they take away your rank if you did a challenge lobby?

I just re bought it and im glad almost all the issues have been fixed. Love the game>

yeah and what makes it even worse is almost half the time you die from a quickscope shot, when you watch the killcam their sights arent even close to being on you.

In my opinion, MW2 is finally getting back to the good ol' days. I was devastated when hackers started running rampant, cause I thought MW2 would never be playable again, and I would have to settle for Black Ops. But I've started playing again a few months later and now I never see any hackers, and after playing good mw2 games, it's almost impossible to go back to Black Ops.
