I was thinking about that today and I wanted to know what you think about it.

A point system that after each trophy you get you earn a certain amount of point.

With those points that you have earned you could exchange it for PSN gift card or money.

This was my idea, If you have any other idea's about how to spend those points earn don't be shy and tell us! XD

No. The trophy system is the reward. It adds to the life of a few games and for some, it provides a sense of accomplishment for an individual that lacks so in the real world. Personally, I just like being able to compare with friends. Much better than the old days of gaming when you had to take someone's word when they claimed to have completed a game or did something difficult within it. I think Sony will eventually incorporate an award thing like 'the other guys' but that'll most likely only apply to paying customers. That is if they do eventually introduce such a system.

Right now I have no interest in getting trophies, 80% of them are just "do this" or "kill that", with no link to the story or characters, so I get some (you even get some by just progressing into the game, which makes them worthless), and I sometimes wander and get some by killing things but not intending to do so.

I think M$ implemented them to create a level of competition as most of their gamers like FPS or racers, and would like to compare thier killing spree or race time, but it could have been left out on Playstation and do another system rewarding time spent on a game (still have to find a trophy about that), or playing it for some weeks or months, showing the attachment you have to a game ...

Maybe rewards could be interesting, but most likely it waon't happen as it would have a cost for Sony or developers ; if someday companies will stop their stupid "next year the objective is doing +400%, if not we'll fail and could collapse" they could actually do intersting things with their money - perhaps even gain more in the very long term, come on, as long as moeny makes it so you can continue, just forget impossible objectives, you can't go up all the time, infinite is a mathematical notion, it can't be taken into account in everiday life.

I'm with the rest. Though more than 'not wanting it', I more 'don't care' about it. Trophies were pointless to me to begin with. We didn't need 'achievements', or at least I didn't. I don't care about someone elses gaming habits, let alone score. I don't care about doing extra things in games that are tedious, pointless, not fun and drag on. Apparently some find this 'Great' replay value, but not me. Would I be more interested if they offered rewards? Nope. I still wouldn't slave myself to do those extra things in games. The trophies I get on a regular playthrough will just have to suffice.

I never check them just like achievments. They are only there for me if I feel i need something to do in the game to keep me entertained

No, people like you need to understand that they don't deserve any rewards or money for playing games. It's a freaking hobby after all.

Adding prices of real value (like money) would just push the whole hacking even more and the trophies would get even more worthless

Exactly, Achievements haven't changed since they were first introduced because there is just no need to change...the system is fine the way it is. The only thing I want is a trophy room inside Home, like the one they showed at GDC a few years ago. T_T

I like trophies, Gaming is a huge hobby of mine and I feel quite accomplished when I earn a optional non story line trophy, but even with the story line ones the *ding* is such a beautiful noise

Yeah, a trophy room would be nice, especially if the trophies in there would load faster than they load by checking them on the PS3 online :/
