The ups and downs of Buying a PS3

I have just bought a PS3...very exciting, but it came at a cost!

The up points:

-Six axis controller is charged off the console (I didnt know that) - The machine looks awsome - The visuals are impecable - Free Online play

The Down Points:

- I had to trade in my N64, Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Xbox and snes, all with games (and i still had to stump up £200 to afford it)!!! - It doesnt come with an HDMI cable (I spent the first day playing with a component cable and its awful) - The controller doesnt come charged ready to go - Downloads take AGES!!

However, now i have it, i wouldnt change it! Resistance is awsome and i got Xmen 3 for free. Ive just ordered Motorstorm and i cant wait. So all in all...im a happy PS3 owner.

Ups: I got one and for the first time ver in my long gaming life I've played through  game more than once (Resistance, on my fourth play trough at the moment)

Downs: The girlfriend wasn't best pleased about the £525 whole left in my bank account, but as far as I'm concerned (and I earn the funking money) it's not alot of money, that's like a quarter of a months disposable income for me

The only downsides to the ps3 is a lack of games right now, price and a somewhat flismy controller.  Beyond that everything is up for me at this point.  I love the hardware as a whole.

I think you mean you were using Composite cable not Component component is HD and equal to HDMI in picture quality, as for Slow downloads that isn't a PS3 flaw i get fast downloads, it's more to do with the status of your connection, traffic, and other factors you can't blame sony for that.  

Ups = managed to find a deal where you get the ps3 plus hdmi cable plus james bond blu-ray for £399.99.

downs= it hasn't arrived yet (only 2 days to go! C'mon!)

How long did you plan on keeping all those old school games and consoles, forever?  It was time to move on and you did.  As far as the HTMI cable goes, welcome to the new world of gaming.

That's what I thought.  You sold alot of gaming history to be able to support a console that still can't seem to find its legs.  Heres hoping it does, and soon. 

I'm gonna wait untill there are more awesome games to choose from before I get mine. I'm not gonna spend £400 on a games console without more than 2-3 awesome games.Agent_13

I know. it was a bit gutting, but i dont play them anymore. and now i have the all three new consoles, i can get all the old games i love through backwards compatability.

Component cables are fine...composite cables are crap.

First the Sixaxis is charged off any Powered USb port so you can use your Pc or a self powered USB hub etc. and what's the downside to charging it using the console you can still use it while it's charging and you didn't have to buy a seperate kit to do that unlike a certain other system..
