There's a LOT of potential in Resistance 3...

They can do anything:

Create a new, more relatable protaganist, create friends you'll care about, craft a legitimate story...

And also the new weapons, locations and online the series in known for.

Someone mentioned 4 player co-op also, which WOULD be a good idea with the above story related points...

I think this could be a real winner.

I hope they make the multiplayer more in-depth and extensive. If they added weapon and character customization plus vehicles on certain maps then the multiplayer would be much more appealing. Just no perks, please...

I'm getting resistance 3 regardless of any reviews, be they positive or negative, that it receives. Resistance 1 and 2 were just too epic of games to pass up and their co-op was great IMO. If they have 4-player co-op in Resistance 3 that would be great and a new character would be interesting. Still I would also be interested in learning of what happened in instances we missed. Like what ever happened to that British girl from Resistance 1? It is implied that she was destroyed or something but it was also implied that Nathan Hale was the only one to have been infected and come out of that coma. Still I have a feeling that Resistance 3 is gonna follow the story of Capelli.

What I really want to see is Hale become the leader and you have a campaign as Capelli to stop him, however after the end of r2 i'm not sure what they will do with Hale

Two co-op modes would be great. One for campaign, the other for the class based co-op that should now support 4 player split screen, have more maps, more upgrades, more everything!!!! If that happens I will be STOKED for R3. Come on insomniac, make this game ROCK. I'm very interested to see how they handle the story.

I think this could be a real winner.

muzik_mafia

Yeah, just like R2.

There's no questioning: If you didn't like R2's multiplayer (which was 90% of the fun you'll have with it), you either don't like sci-fi shooters or shooters that take too many bullets to kill. That game was a real craftsman's work: Great, balanced, varied weapons, beautiful environments with a diverse and intense collor pallette, amazing draw distance, solid shooting mechanics, smooth animations for all enemies with great AI and epic, large scale battles and boss fights. The story could have been better, but the ending was a really impressive climax which got me at the edge of my seat and I just felt like I watched a movie. That game was fantastic and there's absolutely no denying it.

You know that would be epic. Plus it's very possible he could have survived since he inherited some kind of superhuman/supernatural power from Daedalus at the end of R2.

The ending has no closure. But I think that just adds to the awesomeness of the game. I mean who's to say that R3 isn't going to start off right after that point with Hale getting up and mashing Capelli in the face?

Don't forget Retribution. In any case, R1 had a more captivating story than R2 while R2 had better graphics and more exposure. I'm also a fan of the HE .44 (great leaper and grim killer) and the Marksman (it just sounds awesome) but when it comes to story I think I liked R1 better.

I just hope it feels like it has a soul like the first one. The second one wasn't bad it just felt a tad generic without any inspiration. I also think they need to step up the graphics. Looking just slightly better just doesn't cut it, ESPECIALLY when compared to other PS3 exclusives. I pray the extra time makes this one fantastic.

I hope they bring back some of the elements from the first game. Particularly absent weapons and enemies. Slipskulls, I think they were called, the Chimera that jumped on the walls and shot at you all quick like? Those were awesome. Why weren't they in R2? Their weapons were also pretty cool, and those were gone from R2 also.

I just got Retribution and I'm looking forward to it. I've heard good things.

Haha no not like that

It was just something about the shooting that made the game feel outdated

Probably the run'n gun Halo style shooting. Admittedly, that style is out of date and crappy, but making it into a tactical shooter like Brothers in Arms/Rainbow Six Vegas won't work (I think) for this type of game. Making it like CoD or MoH might work to some extent but I think making it more like AVA or Counterstrike (both PC) would do it even better:

Large accuracy penalty for firing on the move

The faster/larger the movement (jumping) the more the spread

Accuracy bonus while crouching

Some actual recoil

And on a side note it would be pretty sick if they could add destructible environments but I doubt that will be the case.

EDIT: Just a little quip "OMG it's a Golliath!" *throws knife* "It's a 1-hit KO!"

But that's not Resistance... it's an MW2 clone...

They just need to disguise the cartooniness of the online... blood/dirt on the screen, slower movement speed, etc.

i'd be inclined to disagree, on the PS3, Killzone 2 easily offers more in terms of quality and multiplayer competition than Resistance 1 and 2 could ever hope to achieve.

resistance is such a garbage series, not looking forward to the third. Killzone 3 however; now that deserves hype.

As a series I think Resistance smashes Killzone any day.

i'd be inclined to disagree, on the PS3, Killzone 2 easily offers more in terms of quality and multiplayer competition than Resistance 1 and 2 could ever hope to achieve.

As long as they make it completely different to Resistance 2, and make it overall a darker and gritty experience, then I'll have hope for a good game.
