Thinking about a 60gb ps3

So I am planning on buying a 60 gb ps3. I would like to know if I can play ps2 games and the newer ps3 games (The ones that came out after the most recent model's realese) This would really help a lot and please tell me any negatives with this system

Yes it will work fine for all PS3 games.

@razzieneko01: I still own mine for the purpose of Blu-ray and streaming movies with occasional PS+ free games in the living room. Personally, I still don't have any issues with the console but it is prone to louder fans when it heats up after running for 2-3 hours in normal room temperature.

Since it's a launch console it plays all PS1, PS2 games and any PS3 titles without issues. I would suggest if still possible to get some kind of electronic warranty on it to be safe, if you're buying it used, test it fully before spending money.

I have bought 2 PlayStation 3 60Gigers one for myself and one for the epic spouse. One is a November 2006 launch model, the other is a last issue PS3 60GB when Sony gave the axe to these models March 2007. This is the best version of the PlayStation 3. The downside is the fan is noisy compared to other versions of the PS3 slim and Superslim. The power usage is the highest. But if you take care to use this type of PS3 in a well ventilated area then it is possible to avoid overheating an getting YLOD.

Since the 60Giggers are fully Backwards compatible with PlayStation, PlayStation 2 discs then these are the best models of PS3. Since this is the last time Sony promoted B/.C for there consoles. Which use to be a selling point for the PlayStation brand. So if you can find yourself a working PS3 60GB console. You will be pleased with it as it offers the most playback of PlayStation generations. The second PS3 60GB was $150 with 2 controllers. So you may find one for $110-$170

I have not had a problem with the 60GB model, nor the epic spouse with the second 60Gigger. This is well worth it.

Finding a 60GB PS3 should be somewhat easier as people have been upgrading to PS4.

I remember buying the 60gb model just before they changed it to 40GB, which was basically a crapper version. I remember the newer model didn't look as good, the SD/mini SD card, CF, and Pro Card Slots were also going to be taken out and more importantly, no backwards compatibility for PS2 games. Before that I was going to wait a while longer, but thought it was best to get the launch version quick. All the other PS3's look cheaply made, especially getting into the slim versions.

The launch model that is the 60gb, was and still is the best PS3 version. I've still got mine after all these years and it still works.
