Well I have money for a ps3 now but I'm not sure if I should pick up an 80 gb model. I'm hearing that the 120 gb model that's replacing it will have no backwards compatability. This worries me so I'm thinking I could pick one up now and then just wait to see if there's more news before I open it. I was gonna wait for the new model, but then I heard about them possibly not including BC anymore. It seems dumb to phase it out completely because some big ps3 games are part of a series and it would suck to have my ps2 die when I want to go back and play the older ones. What's the longest I can wait before returning an unopened ps3? I'm not sure if some stores have longer periods so I figured I'd ask.

Also, I'm sure they'll announce something at GDC if they don't before the event. I believe that's around mid to late February? I would probably still have time to return the 80 gb if they announce the new model has the BC.

Just get an 80GB now before it's too late and you regret it later.

Just get it now or may very well regret it very soon just like the people that missed getting the 60 gig systems. As for the HDD size I am waiting until they reach the tera bite size before updateing the HDD. I am glad I got my 60 gig system when I did even at $600.00 and no extras of any kind.

Yeah just get the 80gb now. 80gb is still a nice size hard drive and you can always upgrade it later.

There will be no BC in all future Playstation products according to Sony. If you want to get the best PS3 you can, then buy the 80gb.

Get the 80gb now. You can always upgrade the HDD later. I got the 80gb last month and no complains about it. Still, If i knew they were taking the BC out, I would have gotten the 60gb on day 1.
