Thinking of a PS3, Reasons why all of you got one?

I've been thinking of a PS3 lately and I've had a few reasons to get one.

1.)Blu-ray player built in is cheaper than trying to buy one.

2.)The PS2 back catalog is pretty good.

Reasons I've been doubting the purchase

1.)A lot of the games are either on my 360 or Wii, the exclusivety on the PS3 isn't the greatest.

2.)I really don't know how many games are PS3 only, and if they can justify a purchase.

If you guys could give your feedback on that I'd appreciate it.

Well, I'll tell you.

1) I still remember seeing Heavely Sword, Stranglehold, Assassins Creed/other games and I said "I'M GETTING IT"

2) The features it offered were sweet.

3) I did not want to be left out of the next gen crowd.

4) I had the money.

5) It's still played my PS1/PS2 games.

6) It's PS3. What more can I say? It was a must by.

It's the games that made me a PS3 owner, though the hardware is the greatest out of the three. Although Wii might be a little more durable since Nintendo consoles have a tendency never to break and over 60% of boxes break because of the cheap parts boxes are made of. Really, box has got the worst exclusives around. The exclusivity on the PS3 is the greatest, though Nintendo has got a lot of great exclusives.

Well, Motorstorm is really fun and Resistance was good.

What Sony has in store for us will put the icing on the cake.

Lair, Uncharted,MGS,Heavenly sword, and a few others should be worth the wait.

I got a PS3 bcuz I got tired of 360 froze on me and the ring of death(Im not BSying) and tired of paying for Xlive......Im glad now I got PS3 cuz Im seeing more great games are coming like: HeavenlySword, Killzone 2, MGS4. lots of cool games much better than I thought. tho I dont really thinkin about the bluray much cuz I hardly watch a movie.

5. My ps2 didn't played CD games. I have a few in my collection that I have never played and wanted to.

Big - is the price here in Sweden though, costs alot more.

1. Sony has always delivered the best console for it's time(PSx, PSone, PS2), and had great franchises like FF and MGS.

2. I got my PS3 earlier because my 360 kept on breaking down.

Lol.those two things right there are the main reason why i haven't even thought about buying "the other system".

I always wanted it since launch but was too expensive so ebgames had the 10 games and get the PS3 for 400 I was like wow then when I bring my PS2 and my 11 games I had they tell me only 2 games are valid I was like WTF then I just bought it even though I didnt get the deal also since I got $206 discount but I was still mad at eb but then I thought atleast they gave me a discount and took my games (since I didnt play those games anymore)

4. It had a very good lineup and 3 games I reall y wanted (R&C, Lair, Haze)

5. It looked much better then the other 2 consoles (since it was shiny and sleek even though it was big)

6. It had free online

7. It had blu-ray which made me confident it will have much better and larger games in the future

8. everyone in the PS3 forum says it was an awesome console

Here's my opinion on what some of the better PS3 exclusive games which are coming out are and why you should buy a PS3:

1) Final Fantasy 13.
2) Final Fantasy Versus 13.
3) Heavenly Sword.
4) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
5) Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.
6) Killzone.
7) Folklore.
8) White Knight Story.
9) LittleBigPlanet.

There are many other PS3 exclusive games out there of course which are very good and I did not list them because a) some of them are just not my cup of tea. b) some of them are already out there now and I made a list of games to come not games that are already here.

Anyway you can't possibly tell me that out of these 9 games that there isn't a single one that you want now can ya ;)?

1. I have money so I couldnt care less for the price. Gaming is expensive, deal with it.

2. Up and comming game producer/manager so i really couldnt care less about fanboyism but more about innovation and game quality which is lacking in today's industry.

3. Because of 2; to play all the games on all the consoles.

1) It soon will have better games than the 360 that are exclusive.

2) Better Online

3) Blue Ray

4) 720p, 1080i, 1080p quality picture on HDTV alright on plasma best picture alive

5) Comes with new things in a game for a future system like "motorstorm" with the mud and etc.

6) Sony has a background on good sellin games,tvs, and etc. in the past.

7) Might be expensive, but comes with a full package just like a car.

8) And I know for sure it will be the next best generation console.

there motorstorm, virtua fighter 5and resistance now.Here's a list of exclusives I'm looking forward to. Lair, Ninja gaiden sigma, heavenly sword, little big planet, uncharted drakes fortune, ratchet and clank, and possibly metal gear solid 4. (all of these are confirmed for this year. mgs4 to be out before march 2008 )

some other big exclusivegames to look forward to beyond 07 gran turismo5,god of war3, team ico game, killzone2, war devil enigma, jak and daxter lost frontier, final fantasy 13, vs 13 and white knight story.

then there aremultiplats like devil may cry 4, assassins creed, burnout paradise and unreal 3( not sure if thats the right name).

I'm still going to mull it over. Are there any other exclusives that anyone knows about, or games that "are most likely to be coming out" beyond '07?

what was the reason i got a ps3? my brother got a 360 before i could, no thats not to say i didnt want a ps3 cuz i did, but i knew it probly wouldnt have custom sountracks (and so far it doesnt) and that was the whoel reason i wanted a 360, but atleast i have a ton of ps2 games to hold me over untill i fianlly see some games other then RFOM and fight night that are worth buyin

Anyones guess for beyond 2007, besides the ones i listed. Well there may be sequels to new ips coming this year. for example Heavenly Sword, and Uncharted. Infact u can count on motorstorm2, lair2 and resistance 2.team ico released 2 games on ps2 so maybe u'll get another team ico game aswell.

More final fantasies, maybe god of war 4 if we're lucky, perhaps a kingdom hearts game, i forgot to mention the new tekken forget what number it is.

finally Sony and some 3rd part dev joined and created a new development studio called celius, created for making the best use of the cell in their games. they currently working on 3 games im sory dont know there names though. one is like brave arms i think and another has something chains.

1. It's a PS3...after growing up on PSone and PS2, I have no reason to think that PS3 would let me down.

2. Hardware Reliability- Just hold the PS3 in your hands and you know you're holding something substantial. It's dense, it's heavy, it's shiny, and packed to the brim with technical goodness. Quality is a non-issue.

3. Exclusive Games- Enough of this Sony doesn't have enough exclusive games BS...Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, Warhawk, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Socom, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Vs XIII, Metal Gear Solid 4, Tekken 6, and you know it's coming eventually...God of War III. That is more than good enough for me.

All the third party games like Madden, Burnout, GTA, Assassins Creed, Devil May Cry, etc will still be on PS3. So what's the problem?

4. Blu-Ray- I own an HDTV and have watched some Blu-Ray movies on it. They look SPECTACULAR. Most people with a PS3 probably have an HDTV. You're really missing out if you don't take advantage of the hardware.

5. Free online- Resistance: Fall of Man online works very well. There's really nothing I can say to hate on it. It works perfectly, it is updated by Insomniac, and there are plenty of people online to play with.

That " some 3rd party dev" would be Namco/Bandai which Namco/Bandai owns 51% of and Sony owns the remainding 49%.

So in the end this means that those games that are in development by Cellus can't be ported to any other console because Sony is co-owner.

I have prob with 1 & 2. First, I have had my PS3 freeze up on me at least 3 times back in november. Seond, I really don't think we have a ride range of action/role playing games as of yet.

I picked up a ps3 because it was only $100 more than the xbox360 and the ps3 has free online. Also, the ps3 has all the games that I want and that I like to play and everyone knows the ps3 has much more potential than the the xbox360 ever dreamed about. I picked up a ps3 because I have used sony playstation products since the release of the first ps and I figure well the price isn't too much for one console that you will use for 6 or more years and once again the online is free.

I looked at it like this, I like videogames and so I plan to keep playing them and instead of looking at it like I just spent $500 in one day well I look at it like this I pay $100 a year for 5 years to keep playing games on the playstation which isn't a bad deal.

Warhawk (online flight/action game), Uncharted (Adventure game), Heavenly Sword (Adventure/action game), Lair (Dragon flight game), Socom (online team based shooter), Folklore (action rpg), Rachet & Clank (platformer), Little Big Planet (2d platformer/puzzler), Haze (timed exclusive fps), Eye of Judgement (card battle game).TOSgamer10

I've only had my PS3 for a week. Some things I like about PS3.....

1) Resistance and Motorstorm (the only PS3 games I own)

2) Ninja Gaiden Sigma at the end of the month

3) Built in Blu-ray player

4) Free Casino Royale Blu-Ray moviefor signing up for PSN

5) Full web browser

6) HDMI port (so much better than component)

7) Free online multi-player

8) Upscaling of PS2 games. I'm loving God of War 2 on my PS3 because I got loads of screen tearing when I played it on my PS2.

9) Removable hard drive so you can decide how much space you have.

10) I'm looking forward to learning more about what I can do with my PS3. Adding new operating systems and finding out what I can do with them. Downloaded tv shows played from the hard drive in HD etc.

-I got used to the PS controller, and the wireless one is sweet!

-Has a ton of features for music/video/pic playback

-Backwards compatible

-Works with my PSP

-Had an online browser

-Liked the games the PS3 is going to have

-Has Blu-Ray 8)

1) I love Sony (had a PS1 and PS2 and Sony cellular phones)

2) I hate / despise Microsoft (for lying and cheating customers), and Nintendo (for not undestanding that not only kids buy games and over promoting a gimmick most of the people will get bored after one hour)

3) Blu-ray player : simply awesome

4) plenties of others : multimedia capabilities, free online, exclusives I like (Heavenly sword, Drake's fortune, FFXIII, White knight story (don't care 1 second for Gears of war or Mario/Zelda likes)

Blu-ray is so much better than regular DVD that its almost indescribable. THe sound is aweseome and the picture clarity is amazing. I love having a blu-ray player.

Yes it is but this should not be the reason you buy a PS3. If you want to play PS2 games then you should get a PS2.

No it isn't. 3rd parties want to make money and being last in installed base does anything but assure that. If you go PS3 you're going to get inferior ports. Sony has, imo, the best in house games out of the three. I expect more people to buy a PS3 once these games are out. By that time there will probably be a price cut so you may wanna wait until then.

Right now there are only a handful of games. The game drought sux. For new owners, you can be entertained by RFOM for about 2 months and by that time the major games will be on the verge of coming out.

That's all I got. If you're going to make the PS3 leap of faith you have to place a great deal of trust in Sony and have patience for the inhouse games. The choice is yours. All 3 systems have their ups and downs but I'm still glad I got a PS3.
