I just wanted to inject some reality into all this talk about Home........get this straight: this is going to be a pay service for the PS3. Notice how they say 'free to download'. You can bet there will be a monthly charge after the beta is over. There is no way that Sony can or would suport an MMO on the house.dude, you obviosly dont get what HOME is. its not an MMO, its nota game at all. its IS free and we dotn ahve to pay for it, casue there will be spaces for companies ot by advertising all over the place in HOME. thats where Sony is geting the money from. wake up.
Even after the software devleopment costs, Home is going to cost tens of millions of dollars to support, host, and create content for. They aren't going to get this back by selling fake furniture for decorations.
How this fits into PSN or if it's required for online play of game is the question I have. Hopefully membership in the Home MMO isn't required for playing games online. Hulabaloza

How can you inject reality into anything with wild speculation that has already been proven false? If you watched the GDC keynote from Phil Harrison, you'd know what the deal is. Unfortunately, you're just another uninformed fanboy.

How is it now an MMO? Is 2nd Life NOT an MMO? No, you don't know what an MMO is. If there is a persistent world maintained on Sony's servers, it's an MMO. Even if it uses an XBL system where the individual consoles are used to host the actual games...or homes....it's still going to access Sony's central servers alot. This thing is going to cost alot to support. Look, PSN is free cause it's nothing......it means all developer support their own content. For them to setup something like this it's going to cost alot of cash. There is no way it will be free. Ads won't cover it anytime soon. Selling fake furniture won't cover it.

Wow you are dumb. If they get devs and companies to put adds on that's how they will make their money and plus people will buy furniture and clothes and other items just to create huge diversity. Let's say by the time Home comes out 8 million or so users will have a PS3. Out of that 8 lets say that 75% use Home. Which is 6 million. Out of that 6 million lets say that 2 million buy an average of 5 items each costing about $5 each. That's around 50 million right there...plus adds from companies...equals...more money. And if you want to compare it to an MMO go play Guild Wars it's an MMO free of charge bud...

Ok, the point of telling us this is becuz? starting something? trying to put us down? Look we don't have time for people like you on this forum. It's suppose to be a frendly one not with constant trolls running around screaming ps3 sucks. If you think a game console is worth all the effort on, then by all means go ahead and waste some more of your life. We quite frankly do not care.

Home will be free yes. Everything else will have a price. New clothing for your avatar, bigger appartment, furniture and so on. Thats how they will finance it.Radiozo

I believe It will be free. for one this is Basically Sony's plan to get people to buy a PS3 and if people have to pay a monthly fee to play home, they will not get as many new customers as they would if Home is free.
Sony will easily be able to support the maintenance cost with the money they will be raking in from Advertisements.
They are gonna finance it with adds. The same way google does its business. RadiozoAhhh correct! but the real question here is... are these companies willing to pay big money for space in a MMO on a console that has the lowest install base? Is it worth the money or will they see it as a waste of time?
