Burnout 5, read here.

I kinda forgot about this game and what Criterion was doing with it. Meaning that that they're mainly focusing on the Ps3 version as the Main base system.

If Criterion finds great sucess with Burnout 5, then maybe this will bring more developers back to the Ps3.

"Make the Ps3 version first, then port it to others."

Dang, ya gotta love it.

i think that most new games will now be ported from the ps3 version, it would have been tuff for all the earlier games that were pretty far in devolpment already

I think it will vary by dev.

Personally what I really like to see is the strategy that they're taking with Ace Combat.  Make one game, then make the other.  Maximize both platforms versions.  No direct porting.

If the game is developed on the PS3 first how can it be called a port? J/K - I couldn't care less I just want Burnout to be released! :)

i agree, not porting to any system would be best, but also expensive and we all know what companies like ea care about....games... whoops i mean money

I mean, to be ported to other systems...Or is it called a port (for other systems), if the Ps3 version is focused on more?

I dunno, go figure.

I just like good news.

Being as how there are 3 times as many 360's as there are PS3's, I really doubt that's going to happen.

if the game is going to be multi plat, it really doesnt matter what the install bases are, what matters is what systems can do more and be ported from easiest, and it's already been said....

"Eggebrecht also comments on the number of development studios who have so far complained that programming games for the PS3 is far too difficult in comparison to the 360. In his opinion, the majority of these complaints come from development teams who try to port games from the 360 to the PS3 instead of doing it the other way around.

"[Microsoft] created the 360 engine with a unified memory architecture in mind, with the embedded frame buffer with its advantages and disadvantages, and not thinking too much in early stages about multicore," he explains. "If you try to get that over to the PS3, you're in for a bad surprise. The PS3 is all about streamlining about the two different memory pools. They are separate. You don't have to do tiling because you don't have an embedded frame buffer.

"If you create first on the PS3," he later adds, "it is pretty easy to port it to the 360. A lot of companies coming on board now will probably start on the PS3 and move to the 360. The lucky thing for us is we didn't have to think about the 360 at all."

This year is a trial run.

If the x360 version sells vastly more, then devs will use the x360 as the lead platform. Same will be true if the PS3 version sells more.

Yeah, I read that article yesterday.

You have to question his credibility when his company only develops for the PS3....kinda like Insomniac. These guys have a vested interest in seeing the PS3 be #1.

Exactly. The fact that you can get more of the 360 with less means it will be the platform of choice when it comes to porting. It's wishful thinking on any Sony fan to think the other way around.

Criterion are masters at developing for the ps2.

This Is an qoute from an old article..,..... "Criterion's RenderWare3 enables programmers to speed up development schedules for companies, and has been tinkered with to take advantage of the specialized architecture on PlayStation2"

so ps3 should be the same.

Here her I concur :)

I'd prefer to see different versions for different platforms. Ports aren't always a bad thing but it's nice to see something new.
