Thoughts and opinions: is the Uncharted series overrated?

Overrated, Yes i think its overrated; one of the best games this generation, yes I think it's still one of the gratest games this generation just I dont think it is great as everyone makes it out to be.layton2012

Not at all!! The first game was good, the second was one of the best games I've ever played and the third looks set to top that, its a awesome series and deserves all the praise it gets x

Yes, it's overrated but not any more than any other exclusive title for any platform. You have to expect the fanboys to overrate exclusives.

It's definitely more polished than multiplaform games on the ps3 but that isn't saying much. All that means is that they didn't built it on the 360 and make a crappy port for the ps3 like everyone else.

But content wize, I consider them more as rentals. They're fun to play through but after I do, I'm not really compelled to play them again.

Uncharted 2............ Gamespot score= 9.5, critic score (79 critics)= 9.6, user score (nearly 14K users)= 9.5

I don't think all these high praises are coming from "sony fanboys". I think they are just giving their honest opinions of one of the greatest action/adventure game of all time. I haven't played a better action/adventure game on the PS3 or any other system. If it is "so overrated" then people can name A LOT more PS3 games that are better and I don't see that happening. Red Dead Redemption? No. Grand Theft Auto IV? No. Metal Gear Solid 4? No. Now that is a movie. I don't consider UC 2 to be a movie. Batman Arkham Asylum? Nope. I had that game, sold it and I considered that game to be bit overrated but it looks like Arkham City really improved and could take the title as the best ps3 game ever. God of War III? Probably the closest game in my opinion but I would still lean towards UC2.

Uncharted is a fantastic franchise. However, I don't put Naughty Dog on the list of gaming gods like I do Nintendo or Blizzard. Uncharted shows that you don't have to be innovative to be successful, you just have to do it right.

I agree that they are over-rated. I play them, and will buy the new one, but not because it's my favorite game. No, I just play them because they are technically well done and nice eye-candy, and nothing more. I don't think the gameplay is nearly as good as some of the other action games on the market, and I've never found the stories to be all that great either... especially the endings. But the graphics slave in me must play it to see what kind of visuals Naughty Dog pulls out. As a 3D TV owner, I'm looking forward to that feature especially.donalbane

Uncharted games are really well done. But no I dont think it deserved all the 10's it got. Personally I would rate the series 8.75 out of 10. I too find the multiplayer kinda boring, but sometimes I do play it when I get bored of FPS multiplayer. Single Player is great though. Its just that when I think 10/10, I think of a game that will last for years and years, like GTA: San Andreas.

What action games do you believe are better than Uncharted 2? Deus Ex?

The Infamous gamesare great, and, in my opinion, better than Uncharted.

If you like Sandboxes, look at Saint's Row 2, Red Dead Redemption, and the upcoming Postal 3.

God of War is great if you want variety of combat, puzzles, and epic bosses... and lots of gore :) :)

If you like action RPG's, I'd say Deus Ex, Fallout 3 and Borderlands (Borderlands is part FPS as well)

Good zombie action games are Dead Rising 2 and Resident Evil 5.

If you like indie-type games, try the Ico/Shadow of the Collossus Collection and The Last Guardian (which will be released next year)

If you wanna break your 64" plasma TV by throwing the controller at in in frustration (NOTE: true story), try Demon's Souls. PS They are action RPGS

Lastly, the Batman games are great, though I havent tryed the new one. I know it's gunna be amazing though

depends what you mean by overrated. i think some of its parts is a bit overrated. maybe its just third person shooters, but it takes way 2 many bullets to kill someone...well that goes for the campaign as well. and the final boss fights could be more epic imo...

but all in all it deserves to be called one of the better franchises developed on the sony platform if not the best. the voice acting, set pieces, puzzles, platformers the characters, the feel....its just amazing. what it lacks in other areas are more than made up for with others.

I don't think its over rated, over rated is call of duty. I say what makes the games so great is when you look at the big picture. It has amazing game play, great stories, likeable characters, cool action sequences, amazing graphics, and a wonderful cast. Your not just playing some generic shooter thats all about killing people and really nothing more. With uncharted you get the shotting action but with a story, great characters, an engaging environment, puzzles to solve and a story that makes you care about the outcome.

I'm enjoying the game, but it's not as addicting as the others. It's like a Tomb Raider alternative, I enjoy the humor and plus Drake is named after me. :D

I still pop in San Andreas... sometimes just to drive around listening to Master Sounds and knock other drivers off the road. That game is a 10. The only game that came close to that this gen is Fallout 3.
