Since "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" is soon to be released, is there any reason at all for me to get the current latest installment in the series, cause I'm pretty sure I won't stop playing Skyrim when I get it and I don't want Oblivion to just lay there, collecting dust.

Technically , yeah, you're too late. Because it sold on Steam for only 5 bucks a month ago. (PC though)

But practically, if you can get it cheap (second hand), there's no reason not to get it... still a pretty awesome game :)

You can probably get it for 10 bucks used in the game stores. Never too late

no its not to late, but the ps3 version is terrible. it seems like the graphics are worse than the 360's version, and i found a problem with the right analog stick.

if you barely move the right analog stick left or right, it barely moves like it's supposed to. keep on doing it then it turns really fast all of a sudden. its ridiculous trying to line up a ranged sneak attack on a moving target.

It is never too late for Oblivion, the game is great, and there's still two months until skyrim comes out. plus the goty edition should be like $15 or $20.

Honestly I would just wait. Skyrim is right around the corner, and it looks amazing, and certainly a lot better than Oblivion.

Definitely not too late. Why am I saying this? Because I'm playing through it for the first time right now - I just got it as well. It's old but still well worth the low price. The graphics are not too bad if you're worried about that, but Skyrim still does look way better. If you are going to get Oblivion, here's a tip: lower the difficulty in the beginning. The game became way too hard for me after the first few quests, and I figured out it was because the difficulty slider is automatically set to 100. I have more fun with the game doing side quests and exploring than playing through the main quest, and don't get obsessed with your stats and stuff, because it's single player only.

I don't think it's too late at all. I got it two weeks ago and it really is an awesome game.

You kidding? I just started another playthrough a few days ago. I will probably never stop playing this game. Every year or so I come back to it. I will probably do the same with Skyrim. It is an amazeing game regardless of its age. The first time I played it, I didn`t realy get into it. But a few months later I poped it in and it has grown to be my favorite game of all time. So if you are in the middle of it when Skyrim comes out, no harm will come in it gathering a little dust. You can always go back and play it again later.

I had never played an Elder Scrolls game until I very recently bought a cheap (but still new) copy of Oblivion. I put about ten hours in before I made the executive decision to hold off until Skyrim. It's clearly a game that was made in 2006 and I just struggled to remain interested. It's my own fault, I knew about it back when it was released and just didn't ever get around to playing it. I wish I had, I'm sure that it would have blown my mind five years ago. Hardly an ES deal-breaker, though. I'll be purchasing Skyrim on 11/11/11 like the rest of you crazy cats.

I only got my PS3 this past January, and got Oblivion a few months later. I just picked it up again to play. It was leaps and bounds beyond Morrowind, just like it looks like Skyrim will be. I would pick it up. I love the story in the world of Tammriel (I hope I spelled it right).
