as i made a thread back saying i never played GTA4, just never got into it. So i have finally decided to trade in for Devil may cry 4. I like the DMC series, they are short but the harder game modes make it a good replay game. so is it worth it? Its either DMC4 or oblivion. Really no hate for GTA4, but....

Awful mistake. DMC4 is a boring and repetitive grind. Fight these bosses multiple times, run through these same environments multiple times. It's half of a game, then copied and pasted with a different character thrown in for the remaining half. GTA IV is easily a far more superior game and one of the best this year, while DMC4 ranks with DMC2 as the worst of the worst.

Well, if you like RPGs the Oblivion is a sure fire choice. LOTS of gameplay time. I played that game for months. Well beyond worth the 59.99 I paid for it. (at the time, April '07)

I didn't know much about it either. But I looked it up, read and watched as much as I could about it. Very glad I decided to buy it.

The repetetive boss fights in DMC4 had to be done. Giving opportunity to players to experience different combat style against bosses using two different characters and the DMC's traditional "fight every boss you've faced through out the game" before the final boss. It could have been a better game though, I don't know what those delays they've threw in the development were for.

Nero is a cool character in DMC4, but seriously GTA IV is superior in every way. I was pretty dissapointed with DMC4.

I personally feel that DMC 4 is a better game than GTA 4. GTA 4 felt more like a chore to me for some reason and I ended up being forced to complete it because of the hype instead of truly enjoying it. The gameplay was really slow for me. DMC 4 was really fast paced, in-your-face action with beautiful visuals. YEah the levels were recycled but that didn't bother me and the difficulty levels were fun to play through as they weren't insanely difficult like the past DMC games. The game was more accesible to all players of different skill levels. GTA 4 is a good game, but in my eyes DMC 4 is superior.

If you couldn't get into it, that's cool. I was the opposite, love GTA4, couldn't cope with the repitition of DMC4.

I'm both a GTA Fan and a DMC Fan, and I own both GTA4 and DMC4. While GTA4 is the obviously more polished game, I can understand that it can get quite tiresome and may feel like it is trying to force you to do things its way whether you enjoy it or not.

I personally spent MANY MORE HOURS on DMC4 than GTA4 (I only completed 33% of it until I gave up and started MGS4). DMC4 has more hours in since I actually ENJOYED the game whenever I pop it in.

Both games are great in their own respective ways : I just feel that I enjoyed DMC4 more since I've put more time into it.

DMC4 is a shorter and much more repetitive game, though...:|

Just put in on your shelf and it may grow on you down the road. I don't get how someone could dislike such a fantastic game, but to each their own. Don't waste your money on DMC4. Rent it or pass it, but don't spend that much money on it.

IMO, that's a big mistake. You're trading in one overrated, but good game, for another overrated, but mediocre, game. GTA4 didn't even hit close to my expectations and I understand why people regard it as a disappointment -- I would've given the game an 8.5 -- but DMC4 is one of the most repetitive gameplay experiences I've had in a while. The game looks really good and the first couple hours of the game are very fun, but you repeat those couple of hours like ten times and that's your game experience. After beating this once on the normal difficulty, I jettisoned DMC4. Totally not worth $60.

DMC4 is 40 now, the game had a price drop recently. So out of pocket i would have to pay 20 bucks. I'm still deciding though.
