transfering music HELP!!

I bought the 160gig PS3 about a month ago, i got the 160 in hopes of keeping masive amount music as well as movies and downloaded games...im having trouble with getin the music on it though. ripping cd's works but i have tons of mp3's. Ive tryed my Sony mp3 player ( ps3 say "no tracks found" even though it pickes up the folders i have in it) ive tried a flash drive also sony, and ive tried geting songs off my PSP, its picks up the songs and i can play them but i cant copy.

Basically how did you get music on you system. Nothing i've tried worked and everything i used was sony to wich is weird because i would assume they use all the same formating computer mumbo jumbo.
