I think there should be something special for getting trophies. Let's say you play a game and there's an outfit or something cool that you want. If you earn enough trophies you could get it. It'd work even better with Playstation Home. Instead of spending 50 cents on a t-shirt, earn two bronze trophies and you can get it from you trophy credits.
Well some games already feature that, like certain Singstar trophies will unlock PlayStation Home rewards. Way more developers should do the same thing. Personally, I don't use Home so my ideal reward would be being to use the trophy icon as my avatar. Now that would impress me!
Trophies are definitely not what they deserve to be worth. Sure, it increases your level and stuff, but for what purpose? I think trophies need to have more incentive towards the people who earn them. If we can see what we have earned in a more concrete way, like through unlocking avatars, wallpapers, and even small demos, it would make for a much more interesting and rewarding playing experience.
I don't use Home either so awards for that are useless to me. I would like to see avatar pictures or a discount on DLC awarded for trophies but I doubt it will happen. It might actually make me try for trophies if I know I will be rewarded. :(

I agree with you. I think on the Xbox some achievements get you avatars. They should do that on PSN.
