online for sure. especially cuz i dont have my ps3 hooked up to the innerwebz.
but i also hate those minimalist trophies. EX: Like in dead space where you go through the game with one gun. Wheres the fun in that!?

Online, but I can handle online such as getting certain rank etc.
The online ones I hate the most are the ones that have been in Buzz and Aliens vs Predator which are "Invite X number of people on your friend list into a game"
This forces me to get on forums and find people and try and set up a time to all be able to get on at the same time. Such a hassle.
Also online trophies for games that have 0 online community. Nothing better than waiting in lobbies for 30 mins because no one has the game or plays it online
good points here...the poll only gave me certain number of options...a couple people have already hit on it but collectibles trophies can get pretty dull at times. I absolutely hated the mini crests in HP and the Half-Blood Prince... I think we've all witnessed our fair share of near to full blown nervous breakdowns over the last blast shard in Infamous in these forums... he only games where I find collectibles really fun for some reason are the Lego games...but then half the freaking trophies in those games glitch. ;)Online, but I can handle online such as getting certain rank etc.

Online trophies.. had to give up on KillZone 2 and GTA4. Trohpies should NEVER be about online play (with an exception of sport games).
Online trophies that require grinding are by far the worst because they take forever and don't even necessarily require a high level of skill to achieve. Something like Uncharted 2 where all you need to do is play one match is alright.
Just below that are the tedious collectables trophies. These have now become the standard way to try extending the life of games and it just feels lazy now IMO.
I usually only try platinum from western single player games. Japanese are way too hard because they require grind and I don't have so much faith on online trophies. Overall I hate online trophies the most. Miroku32Yeah, no matter which genre the game is in, if it was made by a Japanese developer it will usually be a long platinum. Not bad if you don't get a lot of games I guess because it guarantees that $50-60 purchase will last you 50-100 hours if you are going for a platinum
Online - When playing online, I just want to play against other people the way it should be played. I don't want to have to worry about trying to get trophies/achievements or getting stuck with dumb teammates that are only trying to get them. It also doesn't help that a lot of the ones I've seen either require a lot of time or a lot of luck, as you can't really control how people are going to act online so that you may actually get one.
Collection - I'm perfectly ok with 25%, 50% and even 75% collection trophies. I always try to findas much as I can in my games so I usually can get them. But the problem is that far too often there are 100+ of identical items to find that if you miss just one it becomes a pain in the butt to find. It's one thing if it's a game like Uncharted where collectable treasures make sense in the game's context, are easily identifiable, and even can give rewards when you find them. It was also nice that it gave constant rewards for them, instead of just one trophy/achievement for finding 500 of one particular item throughout a game.
Difficulty - This one is the least of the worst offenders. Oftentimes there are games that I've beaten where the only trophy/achievement I have left is the difficulty. Sometimes, with games like Uncharted or Infamous, the game scales nicely and it's not that bad to do. Then there are games where it's not even worth it because ofsuchhuge jumps in difficulty and frustration.
DLC trophies - These can go back and forth. If they actually add a lot of value and are worth it, I'm ok with it. I'm thinking of games like Borderlands (minus the arena), Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, or even GTAIV. But then there are the games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance with trophy-ladenDLC that just adds new playable characters and nothng else to the game.
I can't stand the difficulty-based trophies. You just look at some games, and understand it's not worth your time.

The Arena trophies is a pain, one larger challenge arena can take up 2 1/2 to 3 hours to complete if you don't die, cause that thing is pretty challenging (you need to complete 3 larger arenas for the trophies).
Other trophies that I don't like on Borderlands DLC is the Claptrap's Robot Revolution collectibles trophies, like collect 25 oil cans, 15 claptrap bobble-heads and 15 pizzas. The time I spend looking for those things, would be enough to play the missions on this DLC 5 times and I still didn't collect the amount necessary, you never know when those stupid robots gonna drop those items. Unfortunate I don't even know how many of those things I have since there's no status screen either. Needed luck to get items is frustrating, it could take a week to get it or could take months, but I still dislike the online trophies more.
I hate the online trophies that require you to spend some ridiculous amount of time playing the game to accumulate enough of whatever to get the trophy. Often the online portion isn't nearly good enough to warrant that many hours spent playing it, and you have to put up with all the usual online BS with little kids having twice as much fun trying to ruin the game for everyone else rather than actually playing it.
Trophies tied to DLC. I will never pay for trophies but sometimes I play the heck out of a game, get up to the 80% range and then say forget it once a patch comes out that lowers me to 65% or so. I know you don't have to get those to get platinum but I don't really care about platinum, just gettting as high of a percentage as I can stand to.
See Dragon Age, Fallout 3, and other things that require you going down a gazillion different paths to acquire every ending or level up to level 30 with good bad or neutral karma and the like. It's basically trying to make you replay the game, even when the choices don't REALLY effect the gameplay that much.
If I were a smarter trophy hunter at the time, I'd have just saved at half way through level 7 and 13 on Fallout 3 and just went and stole a bunch of items to lower karma then leveled up and so on and so forth.
Ok the point is this. I already did every quest and had every other trophy but the two neutral and evil karma one's im missing for the platinum. Kind of a stupid reason to replay a game I blew 100 hours on and saw everything in.
I hate online trophies because like you say i have little faith in others, and I cant rely on my friends to help me only bcuz all they ever play is COD.
But..
I also hate trophies that require you to play the hell out of the game to the vomiiting point, ok maybe not vomit but Unreal Tournament 3 (yes I know its ancient) for example, requires you to play online on 500 different days, I mean seriously whoever got that trophy must either love UT3 or cant afford another game. Who in their right mind would play a game for 500 days?HarDcore_RpG
Actually, that trophy isn't as bad as you think. It's actually get 200 kills on 50 different days, which can be accomplished by changing the date on your PS3. As much as I love UT3, I don't think I'd be able to do that without getting sick of the game.
Online trophies. For example, I believe Fight Night has one where you have to have the online belt or whatever. It's so difficult to get like wtf. Also Mile High Club from CoD 4. Beat it in 20 seconds or whatever time it was. Although it may be possible to do, it takes forever and is just plain ridiculous.Ghost_702Ah the infamous "Mile High Club" achievement... good times, good times
If i remember correctly i nearly pulled out my own hair from trying so many times. But in the end it was so worth it :P

[/QUOTE You mean win 500 games? Also there's one for getting 200 kills in a single day, on 50 different days; I have had the game BEFORE the trophy patch, and I STILL don't have the platinum.
collectathons. like the blast shards in infamous (I've been at 98% for a year and a half) or the feathers in AC2.
I dont have the patience to search and search for 200+ insignificant little pieces of....
none, every trophies is fine Ratchet_Fan8Warhawk, Star Ocean, COD waw and SOCOM Confrotation trophies are not fine by any means.
Most trophies are ok, but there are some bad offenders out there.
Difficulty: Now, I don't mind playing a game on normal or hard. But when you unlock an impossible/titan/insane/elite mode thats usually where I stop. Especially if it comes with extra trophies like "don't even die once" requirements (Bioshock) Some games scales nicely and it can be done (I have beaten a couple of games on the highest difficulty) but most of the times when you go beyond hard the game just turns broken. Enemies can one-shot you and it basically just makes you play in the cheapest way possible. I only platinumed Terminator: Salvation because it was so short, but there's no fun sticking behind cover for three minutes because if you pop your head out you're dead. Also, games which requires you to play through every difficulty setting. Some games when you play the highest difficulty, you get trophies for all difficulties, while others make you play the game 3 or 4 times.
Online: Online based challenges can be done right if they ease you in. But requirements like "Kill 5000 online" or "finish 1000 matches" just ain't fun when the game isn't fun. Plus, as someone mentioned earlier, trophies that requires you to be a certain rank like Killzone 2. And as it is with every game out there, online will turn dead after a while. One of the reasons I liked Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is because they left out the online part. You did the campaign and the special ops missions, and online had no trophies. Everything you did on online just was for your own benefit.
Grinding: As an rpg-fanatic I don't mind grinding. Most of the times it's fun, but sometimes it's a real chore. Like Final Fantasy XIII, where even with the best farming methods you're looking at 100 hours of pure grinding. I like to do my grinding in between chapters and events, not post game.
DLC: I'm not the person who sits around and wait for dlc. If a game eventually comes with an edition with all dlc I'll pick it up. But I hate it when games include the trophies on the game (with the + sign on them) as if to say: "You're not getting 100% until you buy the dlc"
