this is really a system war subject but i have said it in the past and i say it again never in the history of gaming you can use the same format twice in two gens. dvd was is always be to small for this gen. heck if they could they should find away for micrsoft to be able to make a larger dvd if possible. memory is easly fixed if sony goes there and show how to use morethan one spree on the cell.

What's wrong with the memory? Did they not get the Edge dev kit to show them how to use the Cell's SPE's? Or is it that they can't allocate the memory balanced between ram & RSX? Maybe the memory is just too fast, 3.2 ghz XD

Haha, true. But, listen guys, the important thing here is that they've brought in Sony guys to mitigate the memory problem. It really sounds like they're going at it the right way, unlike EA.

Early on in a consoles life the resident software takes up more space, as times goes on and things are refined more space is made available for use for gamedata. The recent SDK changes freeded up some space but sonys already said theyve got plenty more to freeup with new firmware and such.

Speaking of gamedata, I hope AC doesn't install a 5GB file just to run smoothly.

I'm a bit confused...the game comes out next month and they are just now running into memory issues? Isn't the last month used for final testing and pressing onto discs? How could memory be a problem they suddenly need to discuss now if it wasn't all this time? I've seen the high-res ZBrush models used in the game and it's top notch stuff but really, streaming and LOD models should solve the issue with fitting things in memory, yes?

I don't understand how some people can criticise the devs. None of us know or fully understand what goes into that meeting(s) and such. I think they know what they are doing as far as the technical aspects go. It'll be done right, I hope. All I can do is wish them well with it and that it comes out on time and right. :)

No reason why it should, any half assed dev can make an adequate preloading routine.
