Got it for Christmas, I put it in and I didn't notice a 8 gb / 50 minute install (or however big it is).... And yet the load times are quite short (about 30 seconds to play a time trial) Am I lucky here or what's going on? Merry Christmas btw :)
Yeah the first few days had ridiculous load times because of server overload, they increased the load the servers can handle and with the install my loadtimes are about normal for any game.

oh, that's pretty good, yeah, it took little time to load a game and that was before the install! I was expecting something terrible, but I'm quite happy with this!
Load times aren't that long, what bothers me is the frequently appearing loading sequences. Ev-ehe-ry time you enter a different lobby/window or whatever, you're presented that grey GT logo and have to wait a few seconds. Grinds my gears.
You'll see eventually but most if not all the problems/nitpicks people have about this game are either a) fixed due to patches or b) were over exaggerated from the start.
I just got this today and I agree that the loads are pretty much normal after the initial set up .... And I will also say I love this game !!!!!! 6 hours in and dying to play more XD
I installed the game straight away (got on release day) and thought the load times were fine. This was before any patching took place. I don't know what it would be like without that 8GB+, and the huge install might annoy some people, but with the install the load times are a non issue. I'm still irked by the screen tearing, and lack of crash damage. Those are things a patch is unlikely to fix. They'll just have to get it right in time for GT6 (assuming another one is released on PS3).
I got it and already sold it. I thought it was terrible. I dont think anyone that also has an Xbox and has played Forza 3 could ever stand to play a game like that with such poor track graphics. 2d trees and boundary walls on the Nerbergring. The game looks like it was made in 2004. Unacceptable.
Oh and one of the worst menulayoutsever and without a doubt THE WORST MUSIC EVER PUT IN ANY GAME EVER!!!

Huh, I got it too and it didn't go to an install page or anything. Actually, every time I load up something it says Installing instead of loading. I'll be returning the game anyways because it's pretty terrible, just one big gimmick. Forza 3 is where it's at. Most realistic racing sim my ass, the drifting on that game is laughable, feels poo poo.
