go back there and make a HUGE deal about it.mjk_1
this x10000000 this is unacceptable. unless the TC is lying to us, which is entirely possible. assuming he's being honest, he needs to unleash hell. make a spectacle out of it. see how long he stands his ground once he sees you mean it.

i know that wallmart has a history of repacageing returned items and putting them back on the shelf. iv heard this from a few people who have worked for them. def call the region manger. what probly happened was some one who worked there probly nigh shift had a bad system and swaped it out right there in the store. most likly in the back room/storage room. raise he!! about it. report them to the better bussness buaro "spelling" find out the reqion home office number. if nothing else it may be worth takeing them to small claims court. at the least throw a rock threw the frount windows lol :p

Here are the steps to ensure success. For reference, I'm a cheap 15 year old Indian (from INDIA) with very money conscious parents. I also hate Wal-Mart for the shoddy service and quality of goods.

1. Find an Indian person who is successful

2. Tell him of your ordeal

3. Get him to come to store with you

4. ???

5. Profit

[QUOTE="Sol-R"]it's Wal-Mart. Take it to a different Wal-Mart or go when that manager is not on duty. I'm sorry, but if I had actually bought it new...and a manager tried to tell me I didn't...I'd light into him. it's not a point of debate, you know?CajunShooter

Well do you blame the manager when he probably has to deal with 100s of deceitful customers a day? The nature of most people is to try and take advantage and scam anyone you can.

Anyway the moral of the story is never buy expensive stuff at Wal-Mart. If something is wrong with it they can do anything about it. If you need help with it they can't do anything to help you. If it is something that you can get at a specialty store you are better getting it there and then being able to get decent assistance when any problems you may have. Its your own fault for buying an expensive product at Wal Mart. Stick to buying cheap clothes and food at Wal-Mart and buying all your electronics at a specialty store.

i dont know man. i have always had good luck with wallmart. 90 day return policey ect. my first ps3 was not right, i returned it about 4 weeks latter. they opened the box, checked that every thing was in there and gave me my money back. what happend to the TC could have happend at any store. gamestop bestbuy ect. what happend is eather somebody or an employee pulled a switch and got away with it and the TC was unlucky and got stuck with it.

You should have tested/checked the unit at the store before purchasing. It is our right as a customer. That is sad but I think it's your fault.soyt_llusala

He is 25, he is an adult, what are his parents gonna do :P he should just do as suggested, if the store manager is unwilling to help, go above him. keep climbing the ladder till he reaches a reasonable person.

the barcode will have data from when it was made, and in wich the reciept they gave you has got the date you brought the ps3 and serial codes n stuff, so if it was a 2007 model, and the reciept says you bought it in 2009, then they should 100 percent give you a refund or exchange coz its obvious where the mistake is, they should have given you a new one in the first place, not a dam 2007 model lolB-L-I-N-G-A-H

i'mso glad that the country i'm in, Singapore, has loads of laws to and avenues to protect the consumers. Most big organizations do not like to receive complains from customers. Even SONY! my ps3 broke 3 months after the warranty expired and they gave me a new ps3.

its consumer fraud! the same thing happened to me at Circuit city but the product was something else. You gotta take legal action if you tried all stores and called all available walmart representatives and they didn't compromise. if you paid with a credit card or check or check card, put a stop payment on it and dispute the transaction. (if its not too late)

SUE, ask for refunds + moral and psicological damages (lol what has law school done to me???) or just call the main HQ for walmart and tell them your story, I had a similar situation back in 2006, I bought and official apple ipod charger from them only to find a rock inside the box, tough they did refunded my money and made me 50 percent discount on a ****** one with the tv connections, so I paid the same 20 bucks for even a better one.

just came back from wal-mart... even though i'm an adult i took my mother and grandfather so they wouldnt think i was some young guy pulling a scam... whole new set of managers etc. they were polite but they wouldnt take it back, they even encouraged me to go over their heads if you can believe that. so next step is complaining to the corporate office and probably talking to sony as well, although i'm afraid sony will want to refurbish the thing and give it back to me. however i paid for an 09 model and i fully intend to get it, i've waited a long time for a ps3 and i refuse to accept anything less than what i paid for. the bottom line is that the serial no. inside the ps3 doesnt match the label on the back of the console or the box. basically they got screwed over and i am being saddled with the problem, nice customer service eh?

I just dont get the big deal. You have the reciept. They hafta take it back. Find the cashier that sold it to you. Maybe they'll remember you. In missouri, if you take something back with reciept they take it back no questions asked. Even if you dont have a reciept u can still exchange it, but you have to give personal info and such. Did you buy a game with your console? Anything else on the reciept besides just the console?

Who does that? Most of the time when people buy stuff especially new expect to go home and use it. No one opens it right there in the store.

i did that :|

they will not accept it back at the store, they know i bought one there but they claim the one they sold me is not the one i'm trying to return. my receipt matches the serial number on the box but not the serial numer INSIDE the ps3. this isnt getting resolved at the store level. they think i'm trying to pull a fast one.

They sold you one that's apparently been in the back, stocked since launch, not used.

Go to Wal Mart's website and look for a number you can call about this.

Otherwise, I'd suggest legal action.

That's messed up man. Take it back and DEMAND an exchange and if they say no tell them that you'll take them to court over it. that will change their mind sometimes because businesses usually don't want to go to court over something like that.

The same thing happened to my brother, he bought a PS2 slim and when he got it home he noticed that someone had already opened it. He put it back in took it to Wal Mart and told them the issue, they refused and he spoke to the manager and told them to get him a brand new PS2 because this one was opened. It seemed that someone had a PS2 and replaced the new one with an old one and tried to pass it off as a new PS2. That's why I always make sure that they are brand new before buying it.

I know here if something like that happened, the person would just send an e-mail or letter to the local news and then the local press and media starts bothering the store. Negative media coverage for wal-mart is deffinately something they will not want to endure. So along with contacting HQ for wal-mart. Fire off an e-mail to your local news about your ordeal. IF They are anything like our news, they will go bother the managers and sales staff who were rude to you.

That is so wrong. Go back in there and complain, complain, complain. Getting it used when it is "new" is one thing, but getting it "new" and broken is different. I don't know how old you are but if you are a bit younger, get your mom or dad in there with you. This isn't right.

Talk to the Walmart manager. Obviously they themself didnt even know what happened they had a bad return PS3 or whatever some one did to it before you bought it.... if not thing you can do, call Sony you should get a free repair since it's still under a year warranty.

Just go back and complain about it. Be reasonable and calm. If it doesn't work, and they still refuse to exchange the item, make a scene. Yell, argue, demand the name and phone number of the Store Manager and/or District Manager. Even if they still think you're some kind of scum bag thief, theyll do the exchange just to get you out the door.

I bought a PS2 from walmart years ago that was used in a new box. Walmart definately repackages systems and resells them as new systems. Same thing had happened to me.
