Upgrading my Hard Drive, any suggestions?...

I'm planning on upgrading since I ran out of space on my original HD. I was planning on getting a 500GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive.

Would that be decent enough, or should I go smaller/bigger. Anyone have any suggestions?

just has to be a 2.5" SATA notebook/laptop hd.

Yea your choice sounds good....i went with 320g personally....just make sure you have the correct screwdriver.

Correct me if im wrong, but i remember reading that a ps3 cannot handle more than 500g's let alone a TB.

I cannot see why it could not handle it...whats the difference? If anyone knows about this, true? untrue? Anyways just my 2c.

Get one of these and notice the #1 in the description. There are different sizes of phillip screwdrivers and the right tool for the job does wonders. Trust me, you'll wonder how in the world people strip the screws.

2. I'm not saying for sure unless I hear it from a Sony employee which calling Customer Service would be your best bet. There are people claiming 1TB drives work in the PS3 and seeing as you can format Fat 32 up to 2TB I would be willing to bet !TB will work fine in the PS3.

About a year and a half ago I had a 20GB harddrive, I just upgraded to a 320GB harddrive and I must personaly say 320 is plenty.

I have a 500GB 5400RPM seagate on mine. It is planty and loads decent enough you can get better ones if you want faster loading from the HDD.

Highest that i seen is 640GB and up to 7400RPM.If you have the money i would say get a Solid State Drive Everything will load almost an instant from the HDD. They cost alot right now but the speed is worth it.

You need to install the new firmware.

Size is up to you but go with a 7200 RPM as they are about the same price but noticably faster.

Also go with Seagate or Western Digital and definitely avoid Hatachi - They are cheap but dont last long at all.

I figured it out :) and also had my game saves backed up except the games who were copyright protected.

I've completely upgraded to a new 500GB. Just sucks that I'll have to re-download all my psn games.

I got a 500GB 5400 RPM Fujitsu for 95$ US. so far it's very good. Working OK ! :)
