Ok so, if I set my ps3 to upscale ps2 games, when I start the game it's green, static, and extremely distorted. Unplayable. If I turn upscaling off, it works fine. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I have a 1080i tv by the way. I'm also using a HDMI cable.

That's the symptom when the sync signal in the green component line isn't working properly using component video lines, but I have no idea how that would relate to HDMI. Maybe your HDMI cable isn't of spec and PS3's having problem getting a weak signal /higher bandwidth signals to the TV set? Sorry, but this is something that I have to see and mess around to see what's happening; the best advice I can give you is to call Tech Support.

I had the same thing happen. I just play without the upscaling on. It's not that noticable on most games anyway.

Most games work great with the upscaler turned on but there are some that work better with it turned off. The thing is PS2 games for some reason have different specs that does this. Now there is another thing that you may want to cheack and that's in the video options make sure all the options that is supported is selected because this allows the PS3 to use the best resolution for the media your using at the time. When you start these games on the PS3 the screen will always go blank and flicker for a few seconds while this is going on and when it comes up the best resolution possible should be displayed.
