urgent decision!!

im thinking about gettin a ps3 for christmas, but im not sure which way to go as i live in the uk; a home region 40gb or a region 1 80gb?

i missed out on the 60gb, and for some reason im getting really hung up on the memory card readers and especially the chrome lettering. the hard drive space is not an issue, as i will probably upgrade regardless in the near future.

basically, what disadvantages are there for anything (i.e. films, games, power internet etc.) and what extra stuff do i need if i were to get an american 80gb console?

You can assume that anything that isn't a PS3 title is region locked.

40GB doesn't do backwards compatibility, meaning it won't play PlayStation 2 games. The 80GB does.

Go for the 80GB; it's a much better system.

but then ps and ps2 games arentregion free are they, so if i get a different region 80gb it wont be backwards compatible anyway surelydoughball_5

Right you are. Plus, if you have a PS2 you could play you're PS2 games and your PSONE games. So save a hundred dollars, and get the 40GB. If you have a PSP you can use it as a memory card reader, I believe.
