Valve not working on PS3 'in any real way'

According to PSU, G4TV's Geoff Knighley presented the Valve boss with the following question: "Are you guys working on PlayStation 3 here now, trying to understand it, trying to get better at it?"

In response, Valve Corporation's Gabe Newell offered a decidedly unambiguous, "Uh, no. not in any real way."

Like I care, I have never bought a Valve game. Now if Konami or Capcom were to say this I would be SHOCKED!

Quite frankly, I couldnt care less if Valve starts dev'ing games for PS3, I always thought half-life sucked, and I never got into Orange box.

So I guess that means no Episode 3 for me. What about us PS3 owners of the Orange Box? Not only does that version not exist in to Valve but we won't get to continue the story. PS3 version may have some serious issues (froze my ps3 once, frame stuttered during chopter chase in the canal, extreme clipping/ graphical issue another part of a canal going down a stairwell, a door not triggering with switch in prison section so had to replay chapter, tf2 lag) but that doesn't mean the games themselves were bad. Orange Box was excellent game and I think that those of us that bought ps3 version should get to play episode 3 even if EA has to do the porting again

Hasn't it already been established awhile back that Valve and Gabe Newell in particualr couldn't care any less about the PS3? This isn't really a big deal.

Yeah it's nothing new that Valve likes to stay in their comfort zone but I still want Episode 3

As long as you have a decent PC, this shouldn't be a problem.

lol like i care. now if it was isomniac, naughty dog, konami, thq, capcom, namco bandai, EA, NIS, or sega. then I would be heartbroken.

I dont know about yall but i really wished they did work on the ps3 so we might get a chance to see L4D games rlease on ps3, and episode 3 along with whatever extra games they dish out (portal 2, TF3) If they do manage to make a Half Life 3 sequel within this gens era then this means we wont be going to experience it and that is sad

At least he apologized for PS3 consumers and acknowledged that we got shafted when it came to The Orange Box. If nothing else, I appreciated his candidness and honesty and I respect him for that.

I haven't had a chance to play my copy of the Orange Box yet, so I don't know whether or not I like Valve.

I have a "monster" PC and I still hate Valve...but will be picking up L4D2 and The Orange Box.

He is missing out on money if he does not learn.

Saem here. Love the games, hate the company...

Edit: Valve games are best on PC anyways. They more or less ****** the 360 by not giving it any of the TF2 updates, which I have been enjoying on PC for quite a while now...

I love the games Valve makes, but unfortunately Gabe Newells terrible bias is just so, dumb. Seriously the console war in general is dumb, but when you have ex MS employee Gabe Newell working on titles solely for the 360 and PC, I weep and completely ignoring the Mac, Wii, and PS3 (save for EA ports), I weep.

Don't blame him for sony making such a difficult architecture, besides, why should he spend even more resources if he won't likely see a profit.

Got Half Life 2 for the original Xbox a month ago. It aint a bad game, but overall it just felt generic. I read reviews where they say how attached you get to the characters, how just you feal when killing enemies ladida... I felt like i was playing CoD. Didnt care bout anyone, enemies are generic. The only thing i liked is the gravitiy gun :D Launching saw blades into zombies ftw! Also the super grav gun was awzome!

But portal looks very nice. Probably gonna get the orange box for the PS3 sometime just so i can chill with a lil puzzle solving :D

What I don't understand is why Valve is so uptight with the PS3? Seriously, they are a talented team, why would this be any difficult for them? All the major companies are develpoing games for the PS3 just right, why are they not pushing themselves to earn more money?

I'm starting to think this is Valve's marketing ploy.

Pick the bigger market, lit a fire under fanboys of that system, get the undying loyalty of those fanboys to secure certain number of sales.

Smart move I'd say, and good marketing idea they need, since they can't make any fun games.

They are a small company, and dealwith with PC, 360 and Steam is alot, so trying PS3 would also be tough. But i dont know why they don't let EA handle PS3 versions. When EA made Orange box for PS3, they had issues making PS3 games. They, and most developers, are much better now, with games on both systems equal! I dont get why they cant make a Left 4 Dead or PS3 now.

Never really was a fan of Valve but I must say this...

Screw Valve, those lazy devs. Other devs can make games as superb and beautiful games like Uncharted and KZ2 whereas Valve probably can't even turn the damn PS3 on.

there are tons of great first party developers for the ps3 like naughty dog, insomniac, suckerpunch...ect. I'll live without valve :P

To be honest, I enjoyed none of those games except for counter strike.

and counter strike wasn't even made by valve. Source is just graphical upgrade of it.
