So I finally had to pay all my phone bills and car insurance bills from the start of the year and now I realized that I don't have much money left, lol. Gonna go hunting for a second job today probably. So it appears I'm not gonna get any new games for a while. I really wanted Disgaea 3 too.

So my question is we all know that playing videogames is an expensive hooby nowadays so if you were short on excess cash what would you guys do?

I guess I wouldn't play videogames. I didn't really start playing videogames until I got out of college. I always had a console in college, but would only buy like 2 games a year.

That is why this generation of gaming is so great!!! You have tons of free stuff on PSN demos, trailers, etc Also with so many PSN games $10 or below, you dont have to break the bank to get a good game.

Sell things you don't need or use anymore on Ebay.

Generally I like to play my games to total completion so I stay engrossed long enough to save money up for new titles. By that time I can usually find interesting stuff for $18-$40. I remember buying The Darkness for $20 and it lasted me a few weeks first play through.

If I was short on excess cash, I would definitely limit the amount of games I would get for the year and try to hold off on some for the holidays and replay older games on past systems that I own that I haven't played in a while.

But I've been great financially so far so no worries *knocks on wood*

I have a buddy that used to sell plasma and blood back in highschool. He went a little too frequently and one day they couldn't get anything out of his arm. Next day his arm was purple from shoulder to fingertips.

I went way over board on PS3 games last year ... and I only have 12, I think roughly ... I am still playing Assassin's Creed over and over again ... can't get old for me somehow ... and I have 6 games I don't play anymore ... From now on I am buying only games that I hear about and HAVE to play that will take weeks, otherwise renting for 5 bucks a week on a game that isn't that interesting will help you save ...

My list of upcoming purchase games:

Madden 09
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Call of Duty

That will be all for this year unless I am amazed by one after using my free monthly Blockbuster rental

Ha ha. I tried that once, but the bloodbank denied me. They said my blood was too diluted. Must have been the GUI. LOL

you could do some immoral things on streetcorners late at night for some cash:) jk, like others have said either check out the selection of games on the psn or maybe take a look at some used games at gamestop. also remember that they are launching the ps3 greatest hits already so if there is a title you have been wanting to pick up but haven't had the chance, here is it and at a lower cost.

Aside from the obvious, I think you should fetch out money from a job, if a job seems good, don't take it just yet. Look for another one to compare...

I wouldn't get a second job just so I can buy games, that's a little hardcore. My option would most likely be to save $10 from every paycheck, i'm sure you can spare $10. At the end of the month you should have atleast $40-50 saved. Shop on Ebay as much as possible or purchase used games.

If you think this gen is expensive, what about the SNES and Genesis days? Street Fighter Alpha 2 on snes was going for $70 at the time (as well as some other titles)...and this was maybe 15 years ago?

I had less problems with that during last generation thanks to piracy...

But I would save to buy just a few games. Try those you are sure you will enjoy, are good (take reviews into account, but read a lot of them, not just a couple) and will last you some time.

Disgaea is a game that can last you forever if you are into those things... Bourne Conspiracy, not so much...

I just make my purchases count and only buy what I really want. Preorders help a lot months before so I can pay it bit by bit. The next couple of games coming, I'm going to have to do the same thing.

I did that in the PS1 age cause I had less money then than I do now lol

Sure piracy is wrong. But it shouldn't only be played by the finacially sound. Especially if it's beyond the person's control.

you could whore yourself out to 1000 fat chicks for 50 bucks, or 50 really fat chicks for 1000 bucks.
