is it just me or does this game look like complete crap (and i dont mean visually)?  first of all the commentary is a joke and sound like an old school arcade racing game. "PLAYER 2... WITH..... THE KICK". terrible. i guess i havent played it so i dont know but what does this game offer? if you win a round do you get to finish the guy off or anything? are there special moves for each player or is it just lame spin kicks and body slams? i lookedat the videos from gamespot and ign and this game looks awful. someone shed some light on this.

If you're a casual player who needs lots of style and explosions and junk, play something else. Virtua Fighter is technical, down-to-earth, and intended solely for audiences that don't mind having to learn how to play a game.  At this point we're probably lucky it even got a North American release. Read the column in my sig, Sound Off #18.

Did you even bother playing it? I highly doubt you did, or it's too complicated for you. It's simplay amazing what they do with 3 buttons in that game. The King of 3D fighters has returned, and I'm celebrating!

The game looks great, and I can see how people would be in love with it. This is the first virtua fighter game I've played, and I have no idea whats going on. If your a Tekken fanboy like me, Virtua Fighter won't be any good.

Yeah, but it's never a good idea to be a fanboy of anything because you miss out on stuff like this.

hmmm, may i suggest that you buy VF4: evolution :) it has tutorials (that they didn't add in the VF5, don't know why), it's really good if you are having difficulties learning the moves on the VF5.

dojo mode is your friend...spend hours if you must but once uve mastered a character or characters its very rewarding...lei fei is my man when it comes to this game...the endless amounts of moves you can do is just amazing..and its the most realistic game you'll ever see...no crazy fighters just humans...no jinpachi fireballs just punches and kicks

it seems most people that played this game find it fun, same as fl0w probably too. I actually like this about ps3 games, it may seem decieving, but turns out to be plain fun in the end, no smoke and mirrors.

I personally feel vindcated after spending some time with it. Worth the 60. Although once Tekken DR hits us next Monday I think I will be alternating until SC or Tekken 5 hits.

if its so realistic without signature moves id rather just really bang into someone rather than mashing buttons. imo

I love the commentary, sure it is extremely cheesy, but it makes me laugh, and adds a little more sound to what would otherwise be background music and hit sounds.

Anyways, the game itself is great. Sure, it lacks the lasers, fireballs, extreme gore, and massive explosions of other fighting games, but the gameplay itself is excellent.

There are some great combos to be found, and each character is awesome in their own way, and not simply a clone of another character.
