Wait for ps4 or buy ps3 slim?

This is a serious question. When do you think ps4 is going to come out? Since ps3 slim just came out, does it mean that ps4 is going to be released in 1 or 2 years?

I guess ill buy ps3 with mgs4 probably this weekend. The reason I asked this was because ps3 came out about 2 years after ps2 slime came out.

ps4 will be release in 2012 so yes a little more than 2 years from now. im basing this off of ps2 coming out in ps1's 6th year and ps3 coming out in ps2's 6th year.

After spending so much money on my PS3 and game collection, I do not want to even think about the PS4.

Especially since we now know Sony's stance on BC.

I think you may be waiting for manyyears my friend, but only you know if now is not the time to spend your money.

Sony has already said that the PS3 is going to be a ten year system, at the least. Get the Slim.

I really really get the vibe that this generation is a bit different then the last.

Especially with Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

With motion controls coming out next year, with the hardware that satisfies most graphic-whore players. With Digital Distribution being the next big thing, as well as all the amentities that come with the home console now.

The only brand i see coming out any time soon will be Nintendo. and even then it will not be a substantial change.

This one is gonna be in for the long haul.

nooooooooo, that's not what it means! The ps3 having a lifespan of +/- 10 years doesn't mean that the ps4 is going to be released AFTER that lifespan.
The PS2 is also still going since the ps3 was released 3 years ago. What it means is that the ps4 will probably be released around 2012/1013 (maybe even sooner, depending on what microsoft and nintendo are doing). After that, the ps3 will still live, but mark my words, it will get the same crap like the ps2 is getting right now.

That is exactly what i was trying say. Too many people misunerstands that "10 year life span = no new console in 10 years". That would mean ps3 will be released in 2010, since ps2 came out in 2000. Anyways, I've decided to buy ps3. I can't wait to play mgs4. :D

Still making games for the PS2.. they aren't gonna launch the ps4 with the ps2 still active.. and when the ps2 is done they aren't gonna rush out the ps4, that would be like skipping over the ps3.. there is still a lot of time so get the slim..

I personally think Sony and MS will have the same idea. They will bring out the Natal and Motion Controllerthen two years later bring out a new console. This will leave the PS3 to be their cheap console that they can sell to casual gamers like the Wii. They might even support the PS3 past its 10 year if they done this.

No company is going to say when its releasing their console in case the other company try to rush out their console first. Sony sales got hurt bad this gen by the xbox 360 early release so i dont see Sony making the same mistake by letting the next xbox release first and form a biglead. Now Sony doesn't know when the next xbox will be release so they will have to be ready for it which i think means within the next couple of year.

I think you should buy a PS3 now as its a good cost and will be supported for years to come. It also has great games to play right now. The next PS4 could be expensive so just go with the PS3.
