didn't know they could really do that, but i really just want the in-game xmb, it sucks to not be able to communicate with people while in-game. oh and system-wide voice chat would be nice too. especially for games like rock band.

[QUOTE="DarkBloodPrince"]

what no im game music just because 360 owns the patent. that stinks now my hate towards M$ is growing:evil:

hezbollahector

WOW i didnt know microsoft could do that! that sucks because i dont use it too much on xbox but i was looking forward to using music in unreal tournament 3 on ps3 :(

yeah, that would be the only thing I can see for this being the reason for the update to be delayed for a while for the PS3. however, patience is a virtue, and I have a feeling in the end it'll be worth it. :)

Yeah just be patient. There are ways around this. I would like for starters though for the PS3 to be able to play a music CD on games at the same time at least.

I'd only play music while playing online, not while trying to beat a game

on the xbox 360 it mutes the game music and plays your own music u have installed

BigHerm611

But since most game have an independant option for music volume and ambiant sound, anyone can just lower the game's music and put on some music on their stereo. Personally, I prefer the game's music for single player games. I only use custom soundtracks in multiplayer, and I only played Warhawk and MGO online, and it wasn't bad without my own music.

Sure, but 99% of games out there let you mute the music and adjust sound effects anyhow... if it plays over the game without muting the music, then just do it yourself.

Not implementing the XMB the exact same way isn't a problem. Why does everyone got to make minor issues out to be earth-shattering revelations?

At the moment all of this is a rumor, I suggest to just patiently wait for the update and see what it has to bring us.

There are loopholes in everything.

theycallmeryan

yep, Im thinking that maybe they can have a tool to import the songs as temp files to the game, and play it in that way, meaning the game plays it, not the system. But I guess thats up to the devs.

[QUOTE="ag_8"]In game music/custom soundtrack is such a waste of time, could you imagine something stupid like Nickleback or 50 cent playing instead of MGS4's epic score. Get over it people, I think the only thing I ever used this for was to play Metallica as the warm up music for NHL07. It is not a big deal, the only thing we really need is being able to send and receive message while in game, and as far as I know we are getting that. 9.9 times out of 10 the games actually score is far better than any lame music I can put on to replace it.G-Legend

You can use it for certain games. Like UT3 would be a great game to use it in or Warhawk. I wouldn't use it for games like MGS4 because those games are amazing and would be ruined, but games that are arcadish would be great to use in-game XMB.

Yeah, people are trying to say, "well i don't see the big deal. it would ruin the game if you played Britney Spears while playing (insert game with great single player here)". Yeah, it would be stupid to play this during some single player games, but it'd be great for some multiplayer games and sports games.

As for the guy saying he can just listen to the music on his computer, good for him, but not everyone has their ps3 sitting beside their computer.

If it wasn't a wanted feature, why would microsoft include it in the xbox and xbox 360?
