Want a Xenosaga HD collection? Make your voice heard, and it could happen

I've never played the games but if there's an HD Collection, I'm willing to look into it. Worked forZone of the Enders HD Collection. Anyone else interested? If so, spread the word.

Sony has learnt to cashin on nostalgia, if recent HD collections of PlayStation 2 gems are any indication. Still, the remakes and revitalizations we've seen thus far have primarily focused on proven moneymakers with massive (and vocal) fanbases. One can't blame Sony for treading the waters of uprezzery with caution, but apparently, any HD collection is a possibility if the publisher permits.

Such was found out recently when Morgan Haro - Community Manager for PlayStation Digital Platforms - responded to a commenton the official PlayStation Blog from a Xenosaga fan requesting an HD collection of the epic-yet-underappreciated RPG series. One would think that an HD collection of the three Xenosaga episodes - subtitled Dur Wille zur Macht, Jenseits von Gut und Bose, and Also sprach Zarathustra, respectively - would be a long shot, but Haro indicated otherwise. "Make your voice heard on the Namco Bandai forums to have the best possible chance to see this through," he answered. "Theyd need to sign off on it, but there are technical considerations as well (like will it workwith the PS3 firmware to emulate this PS2 title)".

Technical limitations and requisite workarounds are an issue for any last-gen port, so it seems that Sony is wide-open to the idea of facilitating HD collections for nearly any property if the publisher "signs off on it." Therefore, if you'd like to play these sprawling JRPGs in glorious high-definition with Trophy support, hit up the official Namco Bandai forums and let them know.

Sure Namco Bandai probably owns the IP but they only ever use KOS-MOS in any title when Monolith Soft is developing that game for Namco Bandai.

I'm sorry. I never got to play these games so I can't fully describe how awesome that would be. but I played xenoblade and loved it. all the music I've heard of xenosaga is awesome and I've seen some amazing video clips. why can't we play this game in the uk? the trilogy wasn't released in the uk so why not give us this chance to play the lot? I only got to play number two and didn't really have the full picture.tremault

If you enjoyed the second game, then you'll probably enjoy the first and third one as well, since the second one is probably the worst of the trilogy (both gameplay-wise and story-wise). The first one was mediocre, and I feel like the third one was the only good one. Overall though, you aren't missing out on much. Like Gxgear said, it's pretty much a bastardization of Xenogears. You'd be better off playing that if you've never played it before.

Also, I hate Shion. Worst main character ever. I was so happy when KOS-MOS punched that turd in the stomach, since during that specific scene I was hoping that somebody would.

Only if Bamco is going to make the rest of Xenosaga episode. If not then let KOSMOS rest in peace.

I would be excited for this. Clearly none of the Xenosaga games were as good as Xenogears... but purely from a story perspective, all three games taken together actually made for a pretty great epic. To me the biggest barrier to entry is that the combat system in Xenosaga 2 is atrociously awful, and the music got worse after they kicked Mitsuda to the curb for no particular reason that I remember.

I would play it, I enjoyed the series as a whole, especially the 3rd game so a HD release would be nice.

Xenosaga is one of my favorite trilogies so I'd love to see this. Realistically though, I don't see them making an HD collection no matter how much we beg on the forums.
