was anybody else disappointed with mgs4's ending (spoiler)

I think the series would have ended nicely if raiden and snake both died like i thought they did and that big boss cut scene was soo unneeded. I mean if mgs 4 is the last in the series hideo should have went out with a bang buy having snake shoot him self and raiden get crushed by the boat. I got a bit emotional when i thought snake shot himself but then big boss came and ruined it by talking for 45 mins.

aside from that tho its still game of the year for me

I didn't think there was anything wrong with what happened in the ending. It was just far too long. Just when you think it's going to end... yet another scene is thrown at you. The ending would have had much more of an impact on me if it was shorter and edited considerably. Silent-Hal

(I THINK IT IS OFFICIAL THO! well.. i hope it is.. that secret game announcement was not real so, never believe! just hope! =P) i think kojima said that 6 months after the game release if you finished the game it would have a different ending.. (6 months = life time left for snake) it should be connected to the internet for the update tho..i dont really know how it'd be.. i dunno if it's true.. but if it is, kojima = god. :P

i know that i would have been really happy with the game whether or not Snake and Raiden died. but i have to say that the ending kind of threw me a little bit. i mean i'm happy that Snake didn't die because by this point Snake is basically the video game equivilant of an old friend. but at the same time, it was a little less dramatic this way. also, i was totally sure that Raiden was dead when that ship crushed him. i was even getting a little choked up :P and then when he came back it was like... "oh." lol guess he's not dead. but like i said, i still think MGS4 is truly perfect the way it is.fmobliv06

Uhhh last in the series? No. It was the last game that Snake was going to be a protagonist in. The game with likely continue(Hideo even speculated about working on MG3 respectively if Snake is removed). Snake never died, he is just going to live out his life. If you look at it from another angle, isn't Snake coming to an end, and David is begining his life? This game was about how Snake wasn't ment to die a hero, but die as a man who never got to live his days in peace.

I mean, if it's too complex to see the beyond the intial response or first conceived expectations of what is going to happen, well your just going to sit there confused about what MG/S is really about. The problem is devs never really went deep into the story of these games. They just stick to the things on the surface. Maybe it's time we actually looked past what we first thought and try and understand the true meaning.

Well the idea isn't too far off. To get a point across, don't you have to take drastic measures? Isn't Obama's plan to eliminate the dependency on gas drastic and radical and probably cause a huge loss of profit on alot of ends, but it's saving the planet more important in the end? Is it too far to think maybe we should just rethink one thing and change alot?

thats y peopl who bash this game will never see how great it is because they will never play it long enough to get to those parts. Thats what makes mgs 4 a truly great game because it was a good game that the fans of the series can be fimiliar with

I like the ending of MGS4. You find out a lot of things at the end. Im so glad Snake ddint shoot him slef . the 1st time i played it i kinda cryed cuz i thought Snake shot him self. but when i saw the Big Boss ending i was like WHOOOTT! YEAH hes alive.acsam12304

Over all, I'm happy that snake didn't kill himself, I would've been less happy over all if he did.

i like the end, besides snakes part. IT was all happy when john and meryl got married, then sunny was like will i ever see snake again wqhile she was playing with that boy. That point, you releize sunny is happy from being in the real world, yet players seem sad cuz snake is "dead". With raiden alive, it was a major releif for many, i remember the first time he "died" and i was like NOOOO YOU CANT DIE. Him alive was a good thing for me, and with him alive, rose gets with him with the kid and we learn about the secret with cambell. Big boss alive was cool, he tied in the whole series by shooting zero, it was cool to see the snake eater 70's characters with the Solid snake era characters. The things i didnt really like was how liquid wasnt really liquid. I thought liquid was this badass enemy, but really he just had a 1game stand. I dont like how snake only has 6 months or so to live, it really doesnt clarifies things up, hes been fighting a unessery war all his life, hes been created as a weapon (like what we learn of raiden in mgs2) only to find himself with 6 months to "really live", i thought snake should have smoked BB cigar. IT was a very good closure ending, really ended mgs series right, snake saved the world, ended the war, everything good but at the same time snake is dying, but i guess its meant to happen.

p.s i really loved the whole drevin explaining how there were with the pariots the whole time, that was cool

NO they need, Raiden and SNake to train Raiden's son, the torch will be passed on to him when Raiden gets killed in the next one and his son seeks revenge, and snake must try to keep him calm and focus on the mission at hand, wow that was good.

But Snake only has 6 months left to live. That would traumatize him enough, some seedy looking old man with a husky voice barking orders at you while your emotionally crippled father stands by and watches only to have the old man drop dead one training session and your father to leave you on a mission and die.
