Was the ps3 rushed from dec 2007 to 2006?

I heard this from a friend and he told me the 2007 version had more features and a better graphics card. If thats true do you think it was good move by sony to release by 2006? I guess not because looking at it now if the graphics card had the 2007 technology we couldve probably enjoyed crysis 1 and the multiplats would have had to look better by consumer demand since the gap now is not that big but if it was released on 2007 it would be huge making devs have a run for their money if they wanted so from the ps3 fanbase.

Yeah that's completely wrong and that has never been done with consoles. You can make a console with one graphics card and then make a newer version with a different one think about. How would games designed for the orginal hardware run on the newer hardware.

The 2006 PS3s actually have more features than PS3s later on.

Released in 2006: The 20/60 GB PS3s had: BC-Hardware PS2 games, memory card slots, and 4 USB ports

Released in 2007: 80GB PS3: BC- Software emulation PS2 games, memory card slots, and 4 USB ports

Released in late 2007: 40GB PS3: No BC, No memory card slots, and 2 USB ports.

It goes downhill from there.
