We Can Finally Pay For The PSN! Finally Hand Sony Money For It!

It doesn't matter to me personally, it's the only console I own and I have no issues playing for the service. I'm actually glad with three years running, PSN had been free.

On the side note, as many folks already posted, the premium service seems to be in "addition to current free service". Which could very much mean free online play that we have today could remain free and additional premium paid service which could be extra and optional.

That's my understanding.

Forget paying for PSN when its perfectley finealready, i havezero problems with PSN none of my games lag and thats the main thing! Paying for a subscription like LIVEis retarded when theres problem free services on a better console!

If you have problems with PSNonline you either have a bad connection or have serious issues!

As long as everything we have now stays free, everyone else can pay for extra crap if they want to. It's stupid to pay for online and it does not matter what you get. I could buy another game for $50. If Sony does pull the free features which I doubt they willl, then I just won't play onliine anymore.

That's what I'm saying, it all depends on the features that they add, if they make playing a paying option then that would be bad, but if the features they add for the premium service are like faster downloads, and different stuff i may get it then.

sonys PSN will still be free, but they will add a premium PSN that u pay as well, so its still free. so u have a choice of two

As long as I can still play online for free I'm fine with it and hope it works out well for them. If they start charging to play they're dumb and a lot of people, including myself, would just switch back to Xbox permanently.

I could somewhat agree with you ,HOWEVER,have you ever thought of getting a GAMING ROUTER?? Unless you are using the top-notch gaming router then why in God's name are you complaining?? Obviously, we don't know exactly what is going to happen so we just have to make guesses in the meantime. Do you know how many people switched from the other console to the ps3? Also, how do we know that Sony won't make the FREE service complete crap?WE DON'T. And look at it this way, what if it turns out to be some people on the FREE service and some on the PAYED service. TC, you keep talking about all of the issues with the psn and have yet to say what are your complaints about psn. Oh, you did mention download speeds which for all intents and purposes are not much different than xbL. Only difference is having background installation during download, which is a patch for how the ps3's os works and not a psn issue. Cross game chat and invite is once again more of a os and dev issue and not a psn issue.

Besides streaming qore to its members instead of a install or streaming community content to us I really have no other idea what your wanting. Pc users have shown that if you don't pay they listen, if you ever do start paying they forever do not listen and will continue to take advantage of you. People pay for os system features for the 360 not for p2p xbl online gaming, its really tragic actually.

P.S. I'll gladly pay for a service that gives me the right to have admin content and features for all games now and going forward on the ps3 to have server listings with user created rooms. Where say for instance on Socom I can create a room that will be on a dedicated server and it will show I have admin rights and give the power to control that room and either play or spectate during the game times.

I rarely ever play online with the PS3, so it would stink if I'm suddenly charged for the service. If the basic PSN remains free though (online gaming, text messages, and access to demos and DLC) then that's great. I don't see the problem if Sony wants to charge extra for premium content, but if they are forcing people to pay for that premium content then that's not cool. I guess I'd pay, but I wouldn't like it.

If Sony ends up charging for PSN gamingit WILL be a big mistake on their part. I myself like the PS3, but Xbox Live is still the better online service. This would be a terrible move on Sony's part, and hopefully it doesn't come to be.

Don't worry, it'll get out of hand. And pretty fast too I'll bet. It didn't take long for things to start getting stupid in terms of DLC.
I'm predicting this"premium" ideawill progress in much the same fashion, and much the same pace.

My guess is the PSN you'll pay for will include exclusive Home, DLC and Themes... I'm sure they'll price it lower then Xbox Live also.

Well, I don't really think Sony is losing money because of a free online service. In fact, it's a great selling point. I honestly do not think anything will change in terms of stability either.

It's like going to the doughnut shop and the person behind the counter suddenly wants you to pay him for grabbing the doughnut for you. Yet, has been free and never been thought of everywhere else through out the ages. You already pay your ISP enough to have the ability to even communicate and game online and at half the speed to boot (vs the price you actually pay). It will always be a P2P type of service. Are people going to suddenly start paying to play FPS games online on their PCs? I highly doubt it.

okay so youre saying all of us have to pay for gamespot now even though its offered free and premium ever since ive been coming here and ive never had to pay them a dime? and i only have one complaint about them and thats theyre too strict thats it everything else you get for having a free membership here is perfect...why cant PSN be that way to...the only thing i worry is that only premium people will get stuff anymore...see free online was never a huge reason i chose this system over something else...i mean it helped...but if it came down to it i will pay for PSN but it only depends n the price yearly for it....no way im giving them 50 bucks a year thats for sure

yup tats my only worry...like i mean what could possibly come with the premium membership anyway? free stuff? get FW Us early? or store updates early? like i dont see what they could possibly do thats so great that you dont already do with Qore....like betas and early demos which would be pretty cool
