Okay, so last night I was playing Half Life 2 for the first time, and I was thinking to myself "Holy crap, this game is awesome!" For me, I hadn't ever played another fps' like it. But seriously, when I got the gravity gun I was amazed. It wasn't a stupid gimmicky gun like in most games, it was easy, useful and fun to use. This game even had puzzles! Now I'm left wondering, why hasn't there been more games like this? Why is it that almost every fps released every month seems like a clone of the previous one? Why not some more innovation? A decent story would be appreciated as well.:D

Well, LucasArts tried to go down that road with Fracture but just didn't get there.

risk is too great to chance it.. call of duty 4 was loved by most, so why not use that formula that obviously worked.. i don't mind too much about FPS.. it's like madden you get the new one because of graphics and a new roster, new features would be nice but it's not mandatory..

I thought the demo was fun as heck, never played the full game.Shooters do need more innovation but if they are a fun game with a great story I will not mind. Turok made hunting dinosaurs fun,Fear had the slo-mo,Timeshift had given the players the ability to change time,Half life brought cool ass puzzles in a shooter with an awesome story.I to want to see what is next...

I tried to play half life 2 8 times, never could finish. The game has a good story... and that's it. Comparing to today's games, it feels completely dated. The gravity gun is nothing special comparing the guns in Resistance 2. All other guns feels muted, under powered, underwelming and lame. they feel like toy guns... And the combat is so damn easy. And thank god, FPS games evolved after Half Life 2.

Evolved? And yeah all of that would have been true if Half Life 2 came out in 2007, but it came out in 2004. How can you compare it to R2? R2 was awful, R1 is a much higher quality game.
