as of right now, if the stuff on Kotaku is it..... that's freakin' messed up. That is more like a .50 update.... when you go from 1.00 to 2.00 we are expecting the machine to completely change. This stuff i'm hearing is crap.

I think it is better to have to choice but I will play all games with the music that came with it because the is how it is supposed to be played. Games such as MGS4 will be sweet to play with the music that comes with it to help set the mood of the game, like a movie. The worse games would be nice to have your own music for game that sucks and you want to listen to a new CD you got and you want to play some retro game that does not need any music for it.

Thank God someone else feels this same way. Why do you people what to play your own music over the game's music??? I just don't get it. Turn your ipod on or something. Playing your own music over the game just ruins it. Think of playing MGS4 with your own music....where's the suspense......where's the surprise music when an enemy jumps out or something? This is really weird to me.

Don't be so daft, people want custom soundtracks for games with soundtracks that consist purely of play lists i.e. sports games, don't be so ignorant and blinkered in the future

Ignorant???? First of all, there's no sense in coming on this forum calling someone you don't know, ingnorant. Second, I said I don't understand. I didn't call the idea stupid, "ignorant", or dumb. I was just looking for a point of doing this. What's the benefit? I'm not the only one on this forum that feels this way. So before you come on this thread calling me ignorant....maybe you should read a little more. Maybe you should even call Sony themselves and call them "ignorant" for not allowing you to play your own "custom" game soundtracks...because seems like they don't see the point in the idea either.

I already have 1.94. It came with Ratchet Future. If you are getting Ratchet first day, dont download it, just get it from the disc of Ratchet. It's faster.

Here's why I would do it.... so i can set my own mood. I would first turn off the music in the game, which is very simple to do, then I would go to the XMB, and turn on my own playlist, called FPS Rampage... yes i have a name for it already. Basically this will be the music I like to listen to while pwning noobs in CoD4 or Haze or Unreal.... setting my OWN mood. Of course I won't do it over MGS4.... because yea that wouldn't make sense... but while playing my games online, I will play my own music, because it gets me in the mood.

Also, it's not called custom game soundtrack..... it's called background music.

That's a good answer and you did it without coming on here insulting anyone. Everyone is entilted to their own opinion and your points are valid. I didn't call them "custom soundtrack", 814stopstoday did that.

The worst offenders are the sports/racing games with liscenced music, which is almost exclusively horrible. I don't think I'm in the minority when I say that Snoop Dogg's title track for GT3 didn't do crap for the "mood." And I have about 60 gigs worth of songs that are more Burnout worthy than anything EA has stuck in there over the years.

See, the thing is, I am going to remain skeptic, as 2.0 is quite elusive, and you'd think Sony would have a large announcement, or that there would be more info about it.

Whilst I agree it is "fishy" that they would notify us all of a TOS change a month ahead of time, to assume they did so to merely hint at 2.0 is taking a gamble guess. Why wouldn't they say "Firmware 2.0, Oct. 30"? To me, all the TOS change means is, they revised the TOS.

It would be great if 2.0 came out tomorrow, along with home beta this thursday or whatever, but to hope these things happen, and expect sony to deliver happiness in a download like that is simply fantastical. Again, I'm going to claim "Cautiously Optimisitc" :P

hopefully we get the background music feature and xmb access during gameplay, I realy doubt it.  To those who do not think this is essential in gaming now adays is realy being ignorant.  I realy cant enjoy playing motorstorm, i only like two songs on there the rest kill my mood, And i hate that because its an amazing game that hasnt been in my ps3 for months.  Ahhh guess ill have to wait...i also want this for gta4, if it doesnt come out before then iwill get a microsoft system.

seriously.. people shouldn't go crazy over firmware updates.. atleast not until its actually out.. guessing when it will come out only promotes a hype that leads to disappointmentt

it's not just the TOS contract, it's also Kotaku.

Be nice let them have their delusions, its obvious that they haven't been burned by promise of 2.0.

I'm taking the wait and see approach, this isn't the first time we've all been excited. With the promise of the 2.0 update.

seriously.. people shouldn't go crazy over firmware updates.. atleast not until its actually out.. guessing when it will come out only promotes a hype that leads to disappointmentt

Pretty much thats why when I go to bed tonight I wont have visions of 2.0 dancing in my head.
