I would first turn off the music in the game, which is very simple to do, then I would go to the XMB, and turn on my own playlist, called FPS Rampage... yes i have a name for it already. Basically this will be the music I like to listen to while pwning noobs in CoD4 or Haze or Unreal.... setting my OWN mood. Of course I won't do it over MGS4.... because yea that wouldn't make sense... but while playing my games online, I will play my own music, because it gets me in the mood.

Also, it's not called custom game soundtrack..... it's called background music.

The worst offenders are the sports/racing games with liscenced music, which is almost exclusively horrible. I don't think I'm in the minority when I say that Snoop Dogg's title track for GT3 didn't do crap for the "mood." And I have about 60 gigs worth of songs that are more Burnout worthy than anything EA has stuck in there over the years.
