There are those who strategically buy video games based upon personal enjoyment, tremendous amounts of research, and careful usage of an allotted budget to make sure that they have a carefully constructed and easily manageable collection of video games which all receive equal amounts of attention.
And then there are those who buy games for the weirdest reasons. This thread is for these people.
What are the strangest reasons or ways you've ever bought a video game? This can be either a situational thing that happened when buying it, or maybe a reason which is too strange to justify all too well. Post your stories!
- For me, I once passed out while I was on the computer. I don't know what happened, but when I woke up, I had apparently won Armored Core: For Answer on eBay and had vanilla pudding smeared on the computer monitor.
- There was another time I bought Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater after buying Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. The reason? I just wanted to have all of the black label, original versions of all of the Metal Gear Solid games, and so Subsistence did not complete that collection and Snake Eater did.
- I once traded my cowbell to a friend for an SNES and 8 games.
- I bought Valkyrie Profile 2 at EB Games to get revenge on an employee who wanted to buy it when his shift was over.
Those are the only ones I can remember at the moment.
