Sure, the game looks very cinematic, great graphics and such.
but what could make it stand out among other first person shooters?
All i've seen that sets it apart is the cover system, and the blind firing.
I REALLY hope this game does well, partly just to silence the ones who doubt it.
I just need to see something amazing from it.

oh, and the weather looks pretty sweet on it :P

well i was a big fan of the original and i myself hope it has some key features that make it stand out, but as for right now, i can say itsprobaly going to be the general "feel" of the game, the environments, how war-torn everything is, how you feel your actually going to war against the helghast, i never had a feeling liek that playing a fps until killzone and i also own halo and have played halo2....killzone is by far my favorite fps just because it grips you up and throws you into a futuristic yet realistic war

The cover system for one. And the intense atmosphere the gameplay footage showed off. Not many shooters have the intensity that Killzone 2 looks to have.

Not much.

Looks like a run-of-the-mill FPS to me, just like UT, Quake, Doom, Halo, Resistance, Haze and others.. People hype all of them when they're all pretty much the same thing over and over again.

well they said that they removed the HUD to give it a more cinematic feel as if you are there. Plus the hellgast and other players have much more lifelike animations like how they react when a ton of lead is shot into them. If you watch the trailer as well the hellgast guy jumping over the wall has never looked so lifelike it just drew my attention for some reason

Havent seen much of the gameplay yet. It looks pretty generic so far except for the part of making it more cinematic and removing the HUD. I don't think they can do anything special like enhancements in Haze or Crysis because it isn't in the story. Hopefully they'll work on that aspect of the game in the development time while touching up the graphics.

In the case of Haze and Killzone, I think you're being much too simplistic.

The first Killzone, while flawed, still had new hud and close encounter elements. And Haze is going to have grappling for crying out loud--Not to mention you can screw with your enemies by targeting their nectar feed. None of those game have that feature.

Resistance I'll partially agree with you on; it is generic. The weapons, while innovative, don't really add to the fact that its reticle gameplay is exactly like the others. But I still retain that it has the best story of the bunch.

Other than that though, yeah. UT, Halo, Quake, and Doom are a dime a dozen.

From what I have heard...so far...there is no revolutionary gameplay. What Killzone is doing is improving upon great gameplay mechanics and effects from other games, taking a lot of standard features and some new ones and making them better. The cover system is a pretty big step for an fps, especially if it works well. From what I have seen the only real concern I have of the game is the AI.

the first person cover system might be huge. while it isn't guaranteed to be awesome, or even completely functional... its uniqueness will make it a worthwhile feature if it works.

Yeah I agree. Maybe they could make the multiplayer unique by thinking of different game modes and stuff like that. In SP hopefully they get the cover system right and have alot of action and bullets flying around in the gritty environment so everything is intense. They are going in the right direction with the no HUD thing and they seem to have a good idea of what people want so hopefully it can be an FPS that really stands out.

So, if the HUDs gone, how are we gonna know our health status, I dont wanna be playing and suddenly fall dead on the ground.

Anyway killzone looks great, tough Ive never played any game in the series.

probably some visual signal... like blurry vision.

as for ammo counts... i believe Guerrilla said that all guns will have a counter on them.
