So it sounds like we might be downloading Killzone 2, which is amazing news.  However, I had a few issues with the 1st game and was wondering which improvements (aside from the visuals which are a no-brainer)  everyone here wanted to see in the PS3 sequel.

Me?  I want greater differentiation in the character class types.  For example there was a stealth character in the last game, but the stealth parts didn't feel fleshed out.  I'd like to see some robust stealth this time around.

So what's on your Killzone 2 wishlist?

no stealth should be completely taken out from Killzone 2, the look Guirrilla are going for in K2 is gritty warfare of epic preportion, think World war 3.

K2 should have amazingly realistic AI in my opinion

What does 'amazingly realistic AI' mean to you? Have you played F.E.A.R.? That's the best combat shooter AI I've ever seen, so something like that would make me happy. (Turning over tables, crawling through little spaces etc.) And what can I say... I love stealth!

My only beef with Killzone was that your character walked too slowly... speed that up a little... also... when you held down the run button, the stamina went down too quickly... let that go a little longer. Other than that, I really enjoyed Killzone.

I agree.

Variety of enemies, Better aiming system, keep the gernades the same, a jump button, better online game formats, carry four guns, downloadable content: maps, guns, skins.  The game never had any boss fights, which would have been nice.

Now I dont know how hard this would be...but  I really think if the want to show off the power of the PS3 and want to show how amazing the environments may look...the game should provide you with the option of playing in the Third or First person...you get to choose...much like a racing game...I think it could work...I always have preferred 3rd person over 1st but thats just my preference...

The one biggie would have to be to "leap over" feature. I really loved how they didn't put in jumping cause I've never understood how hopping around a war field like a damned bunny was great gameplay but if they made their leap feature more fluid and engaging that would help a lot. Where you'd just have to tap towards anything "leapable" and execute it with very little effort.

Some said fleshed out stealth gameplay for the stealth Xter. That's actually great. I always felt playing as the other team mates weren't nearly as fleshed out as it should have been. Their differences should be a lot more obvious. Other than that, BRING HOME THIS PUPPY!!

Instead of different characters I'd rather have a jack of all trades so one can play the lvel after ones own liking. Also I'd prefer to be able to toggle back and forth trough my weapons. But for god's sake no jump botton, keep it at scaling.

Yeah thats what I was thinking...I really think that helps show off environments...and allows you to take cover behind objects and know that you are behind it as opposed to the constant ducking and hiding and jumping around....I really like seeing my character....

They could do like PD0 or R6 Vegas, and show you in 3rd person when you take cover... But 1st person the rest of the time.  I love that feature. Best of both worlds, really.

That would be perfect...R6 vegas does a great job of combining the two...I just hope that the guys developing Killzone are following the trend and go with with something similar to R6 Vegas...or Graw / Gears of War style view...I just feel like I am seeing everything in the environment instead of bits and pieces...

Yeah.. after playing Gears, I kept thinking I can take cover and blindfire when playing other shooters like Resistance. I sure hope they add cover and blindfire to Killzone 2.

i agree, GeoW is today's standard for shooter games in consoles.... if everyone copied wolfnstein 3d after it came out how come KZ can't copy GeoW, or at least use some of it's mechanics...

Huh? GeoW did not introduce that, it was Metal Gear Solid 2. All GeoW has done is to take something already established and then polished it up allowed by the extra processing power. What's next, should we hail Dark Forces as the inventor of 2D 1'st person shooters and hail Unreal as the creator of 3D 1'st person shooters? :? Pay the respect where it's due. Anyway back to topic, I want KillZone's noise filter to stay. Had a scratch in my copy which removed the filter and trust me the change was very noticable as the filter hides a lot of rough edges.

Close call and I can't rell as they bot came out at the same time, but I feel ensured that MGS2 was the title which expanded leaning up against walls with leaning around corners and then KillSwitch later on expanded with blind fire.

As long as it's just a selectable option. I HATE third-person shooters. The angle always gets on my nerves. Plus, it's more realistic when you have to turn to see things around you.

yeah, no biggie. Still, I love cover, and I hope it's a part of Killzone 2. Also, PDO had an evasive combat roll that I adored. That would be pretty cool too... especially if they omit jumping again. And mantleing would be nice too, as someone else said.

  • Vehicles
  • Co-op
  • More online modes
  • diverse enemy types (liberation was getting there with the dogs and spider bombs)
  • more gun types
  • team commands (like liberation)
  • better AI (they weren't terribly bad before and in liberation they were pretty smart)
  • massive online play (64+ players in a large online map with different soldier classes)
  • more differences between the helghast and ISA characters online
  • More objects that you can hurdle (tie to stamina meter)
  • improved melee
  • i liked the blur effect when you sprint

Thats why I would like it to be an option....I dont think it would be that difficult to allow the player to change the view based on his/her preference....and I am fairly certain if they did this they would be the first and it would be something innovative...and give it that edge it needs... The any view you want shooter....

What about the sixaxis? What are some cool things they could do to take advantage of the tilt functionality? I have 2 games right now (Untold Legends and Resistnace) and I don't feel like they really capitalize on the tilt features (UL doesn't even have any use at all.) This is understandable though since the feature was added near the end of their development cycles, but now that Killzone 2 has had the time to really do something cool with it, how would you like tilting to be incoorperated? I feel like the system really needs a showpiece for the feature... Lair sounds like it will do the trick though.

This is understandable though since the feature was added near the end of their development cycles, but now that Killzone 2 has had the time to really do something cool with it, how would you like tilting to be incoorperated? I feel like the system really needs a showpiece for the feature... Lair sounds like it will do the trick though.donalbane
Well drive vehicles via six axis....maybe some melee stuff...You know I dont really know what Iwould like as far as six-axis is concerned...Im so used to not moving with it I never really think about it while playing games...They could use it for leaning around corners...maybe like mini game stuff...planting bombs...uh...I dont know...

Leaning would be cool, if there IS a cover system. That would be super-intuitive, and you'd get better leaning percision that most games before.

[QUOTE="Miguel16"][QUOTE="jwat4"]Now I dont know how hard this would be...but I really think if the want to show off the power of the PS3 and want to show how amazing the environments may look...the game should provide you with the option of playing in the Third or First person...you get to choose...much like a racing game...I think it could work...I always have preferred 3rd person over 1st but thats just my preference...jwat4
third person could work if it isnt like MGS but mroe over the shoulder like graw and gears

Yeah thats what I was thinking...I really think that helps show off environments...and allows you to take cover behind objects and know that you are behind it as opposed to the constant ducking and hiding and jumping around....I really like seeing my character....

People think FPS is more realistic because real life in first person but the thing is, in real life if you duck and cover behind a wall, I can SEE YOUR OWN BODY to make sure your leg or something isn't sticking out to get shot, I don't think I've ever seen an FPS where you can see your own body. Thats why I like third person because third person is more real life than first person is.

[QUOTE="rabbidcrazy"]My only beef with Killzone was that your character walked too slowly... speed that up a little... also... when you held down the run button, the stamina went down too quickly... let that go a little longer. Other than that, I really enjoyed Killzone.Bulldog257

I agree.

Variety of enemies, Better aiming system, keep the gernades the same, a jump button, better online game formats, carry four guns, downloadable content: maps, guns, skins. The game never had any boss fights, which would have been nice.

It wasnt a boss like game, and Resistance didn't have any boss fights.

yes resistance had boss fights

Not really, at the end you had to destroy that thing and fight an angel but that was no biggy, you fought angels all the way up to that part, and at the end of Killzone *SPOILER ALERT* you had to fight a bunch of Helghst which I found more difficult than Resistance on Superhuman.

As long as it's just a selectable option. I HATE third-person shooters. The angle always gets on my nerves. Plus, it's more realistic when you have to turn to see things around you.

So your saying its more realistic to look down, and see that you have no body?

Thats what I was thinking, like when you get hit by a rocket in Resistance. I find that kind of annoying though, to just go flying and have your arms flap around and flail and crap, its similar to what would happen in real life, but not exactly.

I guess they could make what body parts would be left fly around...if they had realistic damage...for buildings...vehicles and even people...it might be a little graphic...but it would be cool to see legs / arms, fly off...if a grenade or rocket blows up near someone...
