Whats ragdoll?

I think he is suggesting ragdoll physics...

Thats what I was thinking, like when you get hit by a rocket in Resistance. I find that kind of annoying though, to just go flying and have your arms flap around and flail and crap, its similar to what would happen in real life, but not exactly.

I guess they could make what body parts would be left fly around...if they had realistic damage...for buildings...vehicles and even people...it might be a little graphic...but it would be cool to see legs / arms, fly off...if a grenade or rocket blows up near someone...

Yes exactly what I was thinking, I want to see some environment damage and body parts flying off. I also want to be able to just wreck a body after its dead you know. Like if I shoot them with a shotgun, I want their head to become unrecognizable.

One thing they need to fix in my book is that craptastic sniper rifle. Another obvious thing to fix is how your teammates and the Helghast tended to repeat the same annoying phrases over and over and over again!

I swear the fourth or fifth time Lugar hissed "Keep out of sight!" at me I was ready to unload a rifle clip in her a$$...

I agree with another poster about not putting in a jump button. FPSs with a more realistic bent shouldn't have it. You don't see SEALs, Force Recon, GSG9 or whatnot jumping all over the dang place in the middle of a firefight right? Mantling and improved cover tactics make more sense to me.

Maybe add some vehicle sequences - the swamp level would have been even cooler if you could steal one of the Helghast patrol craft and have your squaddies man the other positions.

I disagree, I liked the sniper rifle, one hit kills but it was hard to see so it balanced out nicely.

I wasn't referring to play balancing - I was referring to it being the twitchiest, most annoying facsimile of a killstick I've ever used in an FPS. Resistance and Halo have awesome sniper rifles. Killzone 1's sucked goats by comparison. It was one of the most-often criticized things in the reviews for the first game. It was serviceable but hardly a fun weapon to use.

[QUOTE="rabbidcrazy"]My only beef with Killzone was that your character walked too slowly... speed that up a little... also... when you held down the run button, the stamina went down too quickly... let that go a little longer. Other than that, I really enjoyed Killzone.whitey6

I agree.

Variety of enemies, Better aiming system, keep the gernades the same, a jump button, better online game formats, carry four guns, downloadable content: maps, guns, skins. The game never had any boss fights, which would have been nice.

It wasnt a boss like game, and Resistance didn't have any boss fights.

Just because there isn't a huge health bar with the word "boss" on the screen doesn't mean something isn't a boss or mini boss.  Like the scene after the conversion center were the first huge mech you fight is.  That to me is a boss, and the first appearce of the huge guy with the rocker launcher that blows up the bars in front of you.  And the first scene with the wold like dog.  To me those were like mini bosses.  They just don't have the word boss written on the screen with a health bar.

So it sounds like we might be downloading Killzone 2, which is amazing news. However, I had a few issues with the 1st game and was wondering which improvements (aside from the visuals which are a no-brainer) everyone here wanted to see in the PS3 sequel.

Me? I want greater differentiation in the character class types. For example there was a stealth character in the last game, but the stealth parts didn't feel fleshed out. I'd like to see some robust stealth this time around.

So what's on your Killzone 2 wishlist?

FireFalkon
no blurry when you sprint more enemy types vehicles need to use cover balanced weapons

i agree...once i got done playing resistance(still do tho) i played a bit of Gears with a friend an i really wished that resistance would've had cover shooting...rather than just go behind a wall then go around it to shoot and be exposed...

To me, if it "feels" like a boss fight - it's a boss fight, regardless of whether it's the traditional "one-huge-overpowered and or cheap as hell baddie" style or Resistance's style where it's a "setpiece" that's unique but not necessarily distinct from the other battles in the game.

The sequence kicking off the Thames level where you *spoiler alert* take on two stalkers, a widowmaker, and a $***load of hybrids certainly got my adrenaline going just as much as any "regular" boss battle.

Resistance's style would be better in keeping with the more realistic feel of Killzone IMHO.

[QUOTE="donalbane"]Yeah.. after playing Gears, I kept thinking I can take cover and blindfire when playing other shooters like Resistance. I sure hope they add cover and blindfire to Killzone 2.FireFalkon
i agree, GeoW is today's standard for shooter games in consoles.... if everyone copied wolfnstein 3d after it came out how come KZ can't copy GeoW, or at least use some of it's mechanics...

To my knowledge the first over the shoulder was Resident Evil 4.

Well lets get detailed. I want a blood meter. So once you get shot you start bleeding to death online, and if you don't move fast enough you just die and as the blood meter drops you vision gets blury. Till you just see blures shooting at you. I love rag doll physics my self, it makes me laugh every time. Playing Killzone online was very much the opposite were when you died you stuck to the nearest object which was funny but unreal. Like hanging from stair cases in wierd fashions etc. Ragdoll = good. Blood meter = cool.

Just a thought on realistic damage...its sounds like it might be hard to program...or maybe annoying for players but still cool....okay...say the combat involves you and a squad and the Medic in you squad has to heal you....so when your shot a set number of times you loose the ability to use that appendage...you start moving slower...controling your aim is harder...you actually see bandages on your body...and of course when you die the screen fades until you black out....of course as far as rockets blowing limbs off....the medic would pick it up...and try to attach it or banadge you up so you hobble around...until you die....the whole sequence my last an extra minute or two...but it would be cooler than game over...black screen start again....

probably not, but anyway GeoW made going from cover to cover and shooting while in cover easy, in mgs you can lean around corners and all but you can't control your gun while at it

i don't know about GRAW but if you say it's a mix of FPS and ThirdPS while on cover then it is better than GeoW's overshoulder only

i'm getting tired of FPSs because very few of then make you use cover...

I would say make it a full body experience like FEAR and put in realistic damage modeling with certain features being unavailable to you depending on where you or your enemy gets shot. Kind of like MGS. Also some fixed AI and vehicles!!!

What about the sixaxis? What are some cool things they could do to take advantage of the tilt functionality? I have 2 games right now (Untold Legends and Resistnace) and I don't feel like they really capitalize on the tilt features (UL doesn't even have any use at all.) This is understandable though since the feature was added near the end of their development cycles, but now that Killzone 2 has had the time to really do something cool with it, how would you like tilting to be incoorperated? I feel like the system really needs a showpiece for the feature... Lair sounds like it will do the trick though.donalbane

they should tilt the character with sixaxis when firing in a corner of an object while hiding behind it if you know what I mean, Like F.E.A.R

I liked playing the original Killzone and I look forward to Killzone 2. Probably the improvements I would like to see on it are. 1. Polished graphics 2. Constant frame rate 3. More weapons variety 4. Even better AI

third person could work if it isnt like MGS but mroe over the shoulder like graw and gears

As long as it's just a selectable option. I HATE third-person shooters. The angle always gets on my nerves. Plus, it's more realistic when you have to turn to see things around you.

So your saying its more realistic to look down, and see that you have no body?

How hard is adding a body, limbs, etc.? Besides, how many people, other than you apparently, buy an FPS to stare at your own crotch? Not having a body is not that big of a deal. It's better than floating ten feet above and to the right of your character.

I dont understand the staring at one's crotch part...who is you....and honestly whats wrong with floating above a character to get a full view of the battlefield nothing....whats wrong with a first person view nothing... I prefer seeing more around me and being able to take advantage of cover...and know that I am behind it...instead of randomly jumping around dodging bullets...and poping up and ducking down with the tap of a button...which is certainly not realistic...I like to duck behind cover and have blind fire...

Have you ever played paintball? When you duck for cover behind something, I am generally not looking strait up, my head is down, when my head is down, now dont think I'm kidding here its the truth, when my head is down, my legs and the rest of my body are in my view, I use this view to make sure my leg isn't sticking out so it doesn't get shot. I would like first person shooters more if it wasn't all run and gun, what FPS actually has strategy, stealth, hiding, sneaking up, ambushing, etc. (discluding the Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six series)? Those kind of things make a game more immersive and fun to play. If I want to run around and jump like an ass and just shoot at people while I'm wide open with a loud gun that everyone can hear, than I'll go play paintball or Unreal Tournament.

I have mixed opinions about that, It is true what your saying, its really dumb how it wouldnt move your whole screen, and felt weird, but it also slowed down Snipers which was nice because for some reason, in every game, just about every player wants to be "The Sniper" and you'd end up having half the team being snipers (ahem, Resistance), I think what would really make a game is limiting how many people can use the sniper, like only 2 or 3 people to a team, that way clans can pre-determine their snipers based on ability. Wow actually I just had a great idea. Heres something we haven't seen in a game that I know of yet, make like, practice games, l like on Socom they had snipers only, people would go there to hone their sniping skills, well make like, pre-made games for honing your skills with a weapon, anyone understand what I mean?
