I liked on CoD4 when if you used your chopper, your're screwed till you die.
Also, a better campaign wouldn't be bad.
Personally, I do not believe they should have released Modern Warfare 2 only two years after having released the first. When you look at every Infinity Ward game in the past, from Call of Duty to Call of Duty 2 and, of course, Modern Warfare, there is an obvious technological advance from title to title. What I'm trying to get at is that Modern Warfare 2 is just too much like the first Modern Warfare in almost every way. They added very little, there is no new engine, and the multiplayer is practically the same. People say Halo hasn't changed, but good God, Call of Duty is just becoming the same thing, like Madden, year after year after year. The best part about MW2, to me, was the co-op Spec Ops mode.
Just a few minor things should do the trick:
Fix the maps. They encourage too much camping.
Fix the spawning. They encourage too much camping.
Fix the killstreaks. They encourage too much camping.
Show some customer appreciation. MW2 sold over 14million coppies, why do they need to charge $15 for a map pack?
Fix the cheap perk combinations. Its not about making a competition to see how many people you can kill with the least amount of skill possible.
Balance out weapons. So many guns, so little options touse effectivley.
Take out stopping power. Its over used and guns kill in seconds anyways. It will force people to actually AIM and explore other perks for a change.
Either allow co-op in the single player OR allow teamwork in a side game that is unrelated to the single player. Combining both is just lazy programming.
Improve the single player. CoD has multiplayer FPS down. Its time to work on something new instead of copying what you did before and adding some tune-ups.
...So aside from those little touch-ups, I think MW2 could be great. Nothing a patch couldn't fix.

- Akimbo Shotguns. WTF? No one is going to run around with two century old shotguns and get constant headshots.
- Spec Ops. More of them.
- Give some closure in the campaign.
- Give some more campaign
- More in-depth gun customization(changing up stocks, barrels, grips, etc)
- Don't let people do Marathon, Lightweight, and Commando. Make at least two of those in the same spec.

I can't say what they could have done now that the game is out. But what they should have done
i have to stop right there thinking about this game is making me feel sick to my stomach.. basically mw2 should have just fixed cod4 problems, added new weapons, new perks, new maps, more customization, a kick feature, mute all ect.. and i would have been fine with that, but no they had to make a.. nevermind i'm starting to rant.
Exactly, Except i like the nuke. Just make it so that you're killstreak expires after say 3 minutes so people can't camp nukes. Well, just SOMETHING to make it harder. Right now its pretty much a nukes a 7 killstreak.I completely agree.
How to get a nuke:
Get 6/7 kills
Camp in building and don't die. Use harrier.
Harrier gets 4 kills
Use chopper gunner
Use nuke
Repeat
Chopper gunner is annoying as hell, they need to eliminate that for sure.
I like the predator missle because you usually don't get massively easy/high multiple kills. The AC130 is cool because it's slower. I also like the B2 bomber because you actually have to startegize were to use it. Harriers are alright as well imo.
Alimbo does get pretty annoying (shotguns), but some of the guns actually do take skill because it's not like you can ADS with them.
Some of the challenges are annoying as well. For instance, the challenge where you have to have a care package land on someone.... that is pretty stupid to have on there imo. Seriously.....
let's not forget about everyone's favorite... riot shields lol
I think my biggest beef is probably the people that I play with sometimes (random people) though. Some people are just idiots. They consistantly camp or don't attempt to get flags (I play domination regularly).
all n all, I do like the game though. It does have faults though

Stop hackers!! The first few weeks of playing were great, but now its virtually unplayable thanks to losers who aren't good at the game
Disconnect laggers and ban hackers. impossible but still... it is annoying sometimes, especially the many laggers! Glitching is
also a common issue. People that are simply to scared to walk normally trough the maps, i hate that. Glitching imo is a way to get
a vantage point where you see others and others see you more difficult. Glitching and lagging is cheating if you ask me.
no nuke, no killstreaks that can be taken down easily with a Stinger, no unrealistic perks such as Marathon, Commando, etc. and too many cheap weapons like the shotguns
I feel like I'm the only one against easy mode killstreaks and perks. Things like Sentry guns, pave lows, and chopper gunner are all easy mode killstreaks. Perks like Commando are game breaking, you have a knife, not a 10 ft long sword....I wish they just focused on more balanced perks like Cold-blooded, and Steady Aim, things that give you a slight "tactical" advantage, not make youan uber overpowered superman. Oh and Scavenger orOne Man Army = infinite nades, rockets and noob-tubers, its like pluging in a Gameshark but for online use only.

Camping is really a fault of the opposite players, because they do not move to much. On the otherhand running or skipping the maps let me say 20 times a match (around the edges or what you may like)just seems for people with trained thumbs or wt..:P
Yeah some perks should have been kept a DLC or so. I guess when you truly get into a game such as some of we do, it's already too late and in the stadium of a new part, or what do you say?
YIP! Marathon, please get rid of it!! Also!!! What is up with Martyrdom, it never seems to work again!!! Only when you use danger close will some real damage go on! OOO and please before i forget, There are a few omg ... some. lag, and how?? some even p you off while in lagfest! how?

Longer campaign, decent campaign, stop rewarding campers with ridiculous killstreaks, dedicated servers, better matchmaking, quality assurance, not to exploit their customers by introducing rip off dlc for a rip off game.

Well, i've been thinking and here is what i have come up with.
Co-op online with waves of enemies.
For example:
Wave - 1: 3/4 Attack helicopters (since the most of the players are good at camping)
Wave - 2: 6 Harriers and 3 special ops search teams accompanied by 2 attack dogs.
Wave - 3: 2 teams of tank squads accompanied by 6 shielded members of the Elite capture squad.
Wave - 4: 2 hind helicopters, 3 juggernauts accompanied by 30 foot mobiles.
Wave - 5: 5 attack dogs, 3 enemy cpu controlled predator missiles, followed by 3 rounds of TD.
