What do you honestly think of PS3?

I want a PS3 really bad, and I'm seriously considering buying an 80 GB tommorow. I'm stoked. I just want to know what you think of this system as a whole? Just your honest opinions.

I think it is the best choice this generation, since this holiday season it will see a lot of games, and 2008 will have a lot of games coming to the system as well.

Plus, online is free, Blu-Ray is built in, reliable hardware, built-in web browser (YouTube FTW!), it's shiny and sexay, etc, etc.

imo one of the better systems out today. online is free, games are somewhat cheap. overall i love it.

I think that it is a great gaming console which delivers a vast amount of tecnology to many consumers. It hasa varied amount of games and applications that will be comming out very soon and are highly anticipated.

My ps3 is doing well right now and its a great 'next gen'/current gen experiance. I love my 60 gig as it is the best sku imo. Atm ps3 is gradually building up in terms of content. It will get better and is a definite buy.

PS: It is extremely reliable and worth the money.

I just bought a 60GB for $499 2 days ago, but it's through Best Buy so I get to return it due to their 30-day customer satisfaction policy.

Aside from that, PS3 is worth every penny, Blu-Ray player alone closts that much.

From IGN interview with Naughty Dog:

"Of course [the idea of] doing another Jak and Daxter game is very exciting for us here at Naughty Dog still, but we wanted to do something fresh and brand new to keep our personal interests peaked. We've done four games in the Jak and Daxter universe in five or six years and we wanted to take a break from it and put a new franchise out there [which is] hopefully successful--and we want to do some sequels there too--but yeah, I think we'll probably go back to Jak and Daxter at one point."

the truth is my PS3 has been collecting dust all year. I have been on my 360 for the better part of my game play time. I have games for the PS3, but lately all the games I really wanted to get Stranglehold, dirt, Skate, Orange Box all come out on the 360 months before they hit PS3. I have tried to get all of these games for my PS3, but had to get em on my 360. with that said with High profile games hitting the 360 first that has to hurt potential PS3 buyers. My wife wasbicn at me about how I spent all that money on my PS3 and don't play it. Know whats funny my 360 RROD and Is at M$, so I started playing my PS3 again. I went out and Got warhawk the only good PS3 game left I don't have. I haven't realy touched it, its fun for 5min then the host quits or ppl drop out of the game or something. Can't find a good game there.

I know it sounds like Im bashing the PS3, but I support it. I just find it hard to get any enjoyment out of it right now. They will tell you wait for the games, give it more time, MGS4 killzone 2. The PS3 needs some must have games out now today, It does have good games. I have all the high Profile games for it, but I have yet to be WOWed. I don't feel there are any real system sellers that justifies the $600+ I spent on my PS3. go get a PS3, sony needs you + PS3 owners need you and more people to buy 1. Right now the 360 and Wii have almost 12millon systems sold apace, with the PS3 with just under 5 million sold. you know what that means the 360 and wii get priority over the PS3 from 3rd party developers. Most cross platform games are built with the 360 in mind then ported over to the PS3. This is why 3rd party PS3 games lag behind the release of the same games on 360. I guess I'm really waiting for the PS3's gears of war, the game that makes you say is that game play or CG. KillZone2 looks to be that game, and MGS4 gfx don't do it for me. I want that system seller out now.

I'd wait till moregames are out for it. So far all the dual ports are better anyway on the 360. I won both, but would have waited had I known how crap online and game selection is. Blu ray is nice. looks good. I have heavenly sword - really good looking game, fifa 08 is great. but for the money 360 imo is heaps better. XBL is just in a different class. framerates on games are 360 friendlier. and all these dude say "wait till 08" etc etc. Maybe do just that then, wait till all this stuff actually improves. Just trying to help you out dude and not ruin it but its the truth. (wheh i bought my ps3 1.5 weeks ago now i bought into all the "double 360's Cpu power etc - its crap... atm moment and for a while - its got nothing on the 360 -seeeerioulsyy man.

PS3 is so much more than any other console I've ever had. The addition of the PS Store and the online communityaddso much to the already great experience Playstation has deliveredso far.It seems that most people who complain about the lack of games haven't even tried games like Rainbow Six: Vegas, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, F.E.A.R., The Darkness, Folklore, or Warhawk. Resistance and Motorstorm are great, but there are, and have beenplenty of games to hold you over until new games come out. And now is the best time to buy a PS3. Jericho and Ratchet & Clank come out on Tuesday, Stranglehold comes out on the 30th, Army of Two Nov. 12th, Uncharted Nov. 20th, Half-Life 2 Orange Box Dec. 11th. Q1 of '08 we'll see MGS4, GTAIV, Burnout Paradise, Devil May Cry 4. It's going to be insane keeping up with all of these great releases. You should definitely pick up a PS3 now so you canget some of these gamesfor Christmas. Aside from the great games, my friends and I always have something to do with the PS3 thanks to the downloadable games from the PS Store--we constantly play Warhawk and Calling All Cars split-screen, and whenever we get bored of a game we play one of the 20+ demos I've downloaded, or check out the HD movie trailers. Unbiased opinions from system wars? That's a laugh. Everyone in there is biased one way or the other.

Anyway, on topic, I love my PS3. There are plenty of great games out from launch to present to keep a new gamer happy till all the rest of the games come out. I've had mine since Jan, and there are still plenty of games I would like to get. I don't really have the money or the time to invest in more than 1 new game a month and there hasn't been a point yet when there weren't multiple games fighting for my dollar. I also use it to play my ps1 and ps2 games upscaled, and it has become my primary movie player, upscaled dvds and Blu-ray movies. Free online play with built in wifi. Plenty of downloadable content on the psn. PSN was slow at first, but for the past few months theres been at least 2-3 new demos every week. I had to start deleting yesterday, because my 60gb was full. Time to go buy a 160gb drive I guess. Unlike some other systems, upgrading your harddrive is very easy and inexpensive. So yeah, overall: best console I've ever had in 20 or so years of gaming.

As for which sku is best, 80gb and 60 gb (while there are any left) are the same price now. The 20 extra gigs doesn't really matter. The 60 gb has the EE chip for better backwards compatibility, although the 80 gb is not far behind, and over time, software emulation should catch up anyway. If the 80gb still comes with a free game and extra controller, for the same price, then it's definitely the better deal. I'd take a free game, extra controller, and 33% larger hard drive over an extra 5% in BC anyday.

I personally think it was a waste of money to get right now. There are not enough good exclusive games to make it worth 600 bucks. Wait till next year when there are more exclusive titles

No jak and daxter hasn't been confirmed even tekken 6 might go to the 360.. In my opinion and I own one so I'm telling you this very a lot of confidence that it's truly not worth it to buy one right now.. They will have price decreases within the next year and might add another 6 sku's which would be better. If I could change the past I would make it so I didn't buy the ps3 when I did.. It's collecting dust, nothign really good on it right now.. The online is free for a reason, every time a game comes out tere's something wrong with the online part of it. wait until they master it and then get it.. until then you're blowing your money.

i love it so far.... system hardware wise its the best IMO. i have all three and the PS3 is DEFINATELY more reliable than the 360 (wii is reliable too). But the wii has little storage space for virtual console games, PS3 has plenty of space. Also PS3 is better than 360 with blu ray movie playback and Wifi built in. Plus the 60gb and 80gb have the best backwards compatibility of this generation (heheh 40gb? not so much...)

Games wise so far Resistance, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, and Folklore are all great games I would recommend. Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted also look to be hits. Even eye of judgment is beginning to get my interest, its actually getting good reviews. Dont forget non exclusives like Devil may cry 4, call of duty 4, assassins creed, and orange box. You'll get plenty of use out of it dont worry ;).

I like the PS3 so far. I just wish 3rd party games would come out quicker, but, I can wait for them. I really like how easy is it to use all the features and move around from one option to the next. I'm enjoying free online gaming and the fact I can customize my PS3 desktop without being charged for downloading pictures. As for games, I like what I've played so far and I can't wait for my favs to be released. I think it's a great system, but sony needs to remove their heads from the asses and get going with the Ps3 and getting more support form 3rd parties and helping them out with PS3 porting issues.
