First Ico & Shadow of Colossus. Metal Gear HD collection is out next week (supposedly). Devil May Cry series is getting an HD re-release I just read today. There's probably a couple of others on cards or already out that escaped my attention. I've got a feeling these re-releases are going to start becoming more and more frequent. What do you think of these HD re-releases? Are they worth it? Or would you rather just keep the sweet memories and spend the cash on a new title? Personally I thought Ico & SOC HD collection was one of the best deals i've had on the ps3 (paid $25 new), equally compatible to a lot of brand new games - simply amazing.

I personally love it. It benefits both parties. Playstation profits and the players that missed these games in the past get to play them now and with trophy support. As a kid I missed out on a lot of games. (Cheap Parents LOL)

I've had a lot of fun with the Sly Collection and GOW collection, and I might check out some of the others like ICO and Shadow of The Colossus. Since there are a lot of PS2 games I missed out on, I say keep bringing them out.

I like the idea in concept, but the execution so far has been pretty sad - they're basically little more than dumps of the original games with a lazily coded emulator that jacks up the output resolution, and that's it. Having said that, once they drop in price a bit they're good buys for people who haven't played the games yet.

I like it for some reasons but not for others. Particularly the ones that I still own. I know I'm not forced to buy anything and that's why I like it. It allows others to enjoy something they missed out on. I guess I'm in the middle on this.

With practically every game these days being a sequel to something I've already played, I'll take any sort of variety I can get.

Its a good thing on a business standpoint but as a consumer who also owns a PS2 and a BC PS3, I won't spend $40 for trophies. I just saw the Devil May Cry HD trailer and clearly these companies are not putting any effort into it. My PS3 does a decent job of upscaling my PS2 games to HD.

I think its a sweet deal most of the time you at least get 2 games in one and the prices on these remakes are usually 30-40 at max so I can't complain gives a good reason to play some older games.

It's very convenient, but personally I've yet to buy one and don't intend to either. I'd like to play these games how they first appeared. I'm a huge fan of SH and with the HD coming out, it doesn't interest me. I'd still prefer playing it on PS2.

I agree they are more enjoyable on the PS2 which they were made for but no longer owning a PS2 and owning a Slim PS3 which does not features backwards compatibility on PS2 games (Which is complete BS plays PS1 but not PS2) With these I can enjoy the games on the PS3 fingers crossed for a Kingdom Hearts Collection.

If you've played all the games, it's a colossal waste of money. Why pay for a couple old experiences over one new one? However, if you're catching up on a franchise you're late to the party for (like if you've only played Resident Evil 5 and want to see the earlier stuff), they're a super way to get two or three games for less than the standard price of one new game.

I may get the MGS one since I don't have a PSP, so I never played one of the titles. But as much as I loved both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, (and also the Silent Hills) I wouldn't play those remakes even ifthey were free.

Looks pretty split. For me personally, as I went straight from ps1 to ps3 and missed on the ps2 years altogether (went to uni and then generally experimented with alcoholism for the remaining years), they give me the chance to play some top class games that I missed out on and hadn't had the chance to experience. I'm kind of a retro fiend anyway and like older games. But, I just kind of wish that ps3 was completely backward compatible so I could just play any old game I wanted. I feel these games (as wonderfull as they are) are kind of capitalizing on that lack of backward compatibility. HD is nice and all but meh. Saying that however; the Ico & SOC collection has been one of the best gaming purchases i've ever made.. so can't complain too much.

I for one am all for it. Having grown up in a country where video games were pretty much non-existant I've missed out on a lot of so called classics such as Ocarina of Time and ICO so having these HD remakes for current generation consoles is awesome as it means I dont have to spend money buying old and out of date equipment just to play one or two games.

i like them as i didnt get to play any of these games when they were released. i just bought SotC and ICO collection and im loving them so far. ive only played MGS1 and MGS4 and the MGS collection will fill the gap i missed out on.

but i agree that if they become too constant then its a bad thing

I am all for it. They should make all titles available for the newest console. I don't care if they get the HD treatment, I just want to play some Brave Fencer Musashi on my PS3.

PSone: 10 games.

PS2: 15 games.

PS3: 12 games.

3 systems down to 1.

Who would say no to that? It is a serious hassle to unpack and hook up the older systems when I am the mood to play an older title.

True, but I also kind of like the HD aspect of the remakes and I mean they are usually only 40$ so its not that much. And you usually get more than 1 game so its double the awesome. I got the God of War remakes last year and they were epic.

The God of War Collection was great for me because I missed out on the first 2 games when I had a PS2, and I wanted to play them before God of War 3.

I honestly don't care much. I have no intention of getting any HD remake for a game I've already played, so the only time I actually care is when it is for a series I haven't played yet. I never played Ico or Shadow of the Colossus, but heard they were great games so I got that remake. But I probably won't be getting any others.

I think the graphics still look horrendous, which in case I forgot, is the purpose for the remake? I see little reason in upgrading to the hd version.

If they're going to be charging $40 for these compilations they really need to up their game. I wouldn't mind them if they were $20 - $25 a pop but for as it is, i feel the consumers are getting ripped off.

The graphic do need to be vamped up but I still think these are a deal and if you missed out last console generation then you have a 2nd chance.

It's good because it let those who missed out on these gems last gen to get a hold of them and play them in hd on their new consoles. But personally I just seee it as developers trying to make money off of last gen games to probably be able to make new games in our current gen. Most of the hd remakes have been for games that I have already on hardcopy in my PS2 library.

I think they're a pretty good idea. When most of those games were released, I was still too young to really know about them, or if I did play them, I was too young to understand them (especially since back then I barely spoke english). But I currently have too many new games to go through them. I'll slowly start buying them, and once I get bored of my current list I'll slowly start going back in time :D

I'll be happy if they make a GTA: San Andreas remake aswell as Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 HD remake.

I love them! Keep them coming! I don't like how Capcom and Ubisoft are doing these as cash-ins with little to no work done to them. Sony's Collections, the MGS Collection, and the Tomb Raider Collection are the collections that are totally worth it and they are actually doing work on them.

I dont mind it, its optional and for those folks who didnt experienced some of best ps2 games, its even better. For me personally, i wouldnt mind re playing some classics. I believe Silent Hill collection is on the way and i cant wait for Final Fantasy X HD version. Something for everyone.

I love remasters and remakes. GOW Collection was lots of fun for me because I had never played them before and wanted to play them in preparation for GOW3. I also reallylike the PoP collection because I never played any PoP game besides PoP 2008. Better graphics, trophy support, and multiple games packaged at a good price point? What's not to love about that? Looking forward to FFX remake. Still have the original, but I wanna see it with better graphics and trophy support :))

i like it becausee when God of War 3 came out I got the HD collection and played it before I played GoW3 as a recap and to prep me for another epic game. I support these HD remastered PS2 games (MGS collection I will get eventually). Hopefully they do a Jak and Daxter one!!!
